Show Before the Footlights A fairly large audience greeted greet-ed the Thatcher Stock company in "Moths" at the opera house Monday evening, and the audi- tors were given a nice dramatic ; treat, especially when it is considered con-sidered that the prices were from 50 cents downward. The play is not one of wide possibilities, but the artistes got out of it all I that could be obtained, and all made the most of their parts. I Miss Boyer gave a strong in terpretation of the heartless (worldling, Lady Doily, tUongl? i h?r sincere admirers here would j prefer to see her in a more exact-! exact-! ing role. ( Mr.Percival was a powerful j Jura. h;s death' scene being especially es-pecially effective. ! Mr. Swenson was duly lovable I and manly as Correze. ' Mr. Cutler was highly satis-! satis-! ffi.-t.orv in the thankless task of Zouroff . The gentleman can al-1 ' ways be depended on to do his work intelligently and with ease, j Miss Due made a charmingly beautiful and guileless Vere, and fulfilled every requirement of that one character. Mr Merket was a most amusing amus-ing Duke, and Mrs. Jean Thatcher Thatch-er a sufficiently heartless Madame Ma-dame Sonnez, although her tones were frequently too subdued. The lady made a most pleasiugj impression on this, her first a p.-pearao.ee, p.-pearao.ee, her costumes being 'especially handsome. Miss In- I graham was fairly satisfactory jas Fuschia. The play; was presented with splendid setting and costumes and deserves heavy patronage. It will be given each evening this week, and should play to full houses. It is a local enterprise, enter-prise, is better, than a great majority ma-jority of the entertainments that visit ' Logan, and the money it earns will all be spent in our midst. Prices are remarkably low, and all are assured of large value. The Messrs. Thatcher are to be con mended on cheir venture, ven-ture, and we hope to see their efforts supported. |
