Show APPEAL.! Wantedto Serve her Son's Time Ogden, March 31. A very pathetic scene was enacted in the municipal count here this morning morn-ing when Sam J Cardwell, alias Wilson, appeared for sentence ho ' having previously pleaded guilty to stealing a number of hides fiom theHillman hide house. The court sentenced the man to pay a fine of $75 or to 75. days in the city jail. The mother of the young man was present in court, and on hearing the sentence imposed sprang up and addressing the court begged to be permitted to serve her son's time in jail. This incident touched the hearts of all present but subsequent sub-sequent events destroyed the glory of the scene;among the auditors aud-itors was a lady friend of Mr. Bill-man, Bill-man, who engagedMrsCard well in an argument over some point in thecase. The discussion became so arnest that the two women come to blows. Disreirardirifir Queensberry and. all other rules and regulations pertaining to the "manly art,", the two. frenzied women soon transformed the usually solemn precincts of the court room iDto a veritable "rough house." Officers, spectators spec-tators and court for a short time were in "one red burial bent." After heroic efforts on the part of three or four minions of the law the scrappers , were separated, much the worse for wear. The n3Xu case was then called, and the court pursued the even fenor of its way. . |
