Show BBflj Yesterday morning's papers H stated that A. W. McCune would BBflj obtain .some Republican votes. B We think it would be ill-advised BBflj for the Republican members ol B the legislature to lake any part in BflBf this fight. The Democrats should HBBj be given a chance to chose a man BflBt who, in their estimation, would BflBjl best serve the people and support BflBt democratic principles. In view BBBk also of the charges so frecl BflBJ mde that McCune's only argu- BBflf ment in favor of his canididacy it BflBJ the chink of twenty dollar gold BBflt pieces, the Rc;)abi;':am who B take this action might find them- BflBJ selves objects of a suspicion fom BflBJ which no explanaion on their HBflJ parts could free them. Ofcourc H, the people have a riht to ex- B press an opinion on the question B of the Senatorship but we brieve B very few of the members of the B legislaturs will pay any heed to H the wishes of their constituents, H For instance in this county the H concensus of opinion among the piopk seem to us to be directly in opposition to McCune in fact few considered him a factor in the race until recently and yet if wc lake the daily papers for it McCune's strongest adherents are numbered among the Utah county delegation. Certainly the legislators should at least try to earn the desires of their constituents constitu-ents in this matter, We believe the choise of the democracy tf Utah county is first for King. Jn event of his case becoming hopeless, hope-less, they would support the candidacy can-didacy of S. R. Tluirni.iu if he consents to enter the race. Certainly Cer-tainly the people of this count should let their wishes b-J known n th'n matter. |
