You aro all aware that my field of labor is in Oldham but b"ing desirous of spending tiie Chr'istinaa holidays with my relatives in Bedfordshire. Bedford-shire. I left Oldham on Dec. 22, traveling travel-ing hy rtay of Birmingham. I visited 8)iuoof my Telatwes in Dudley and spent a very enjoyable time there at Mr. Edward Treadwell'a yifiiting the old ruined castle, which ia very ancient. After taking in some of the principal a recta of lirmingliam, calling on the E'dera there and epending a little time with them finding them all well and zealous in their labors, I took leavo of them and took train for Dunstablo arriving there Dec. 23, nt 7:30 p.m. I wa8 received with a hearty welcome from my aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mre. Mouse and family. I found them all well and making preparations for Christmas, as the people hero in England Eng-land keep in rememberanco the birthday of our Lord and Pnvior Jeaus Christ by feasting and sociul pleasure. Dunstable has grown a great dual in the past thirty years and is a town that ia a credit to England for the- good character of the people On Christmas day1 1 enjoyed myself very much. At 1 p. m. eight of us sat down to a very good Christmas dinner. Monday being Bank holiday we had another day of the aamo kind with a fow additions to our company. Tuesday I spent tho day at Luton visiting some of my cousins iiiid had a very good time. On Wednesday I came to Studham to tho Ultle viHa'ee of my birth to see my relatives that live hero (fifty in number) and to spend New Years daywitn them. I found them all well and received a hearty welcome from them and others 1 can say to tho credit of thb pcoplo who joined the church in Studhnm that in ia a pleasure to meet with those that arc here and were acquainted with tho most of you that left here to hear thu good .-name they give you. They aro bound to acknowledge that peoplo of that kind .would make a good community which the people of Utah areas a whole which I am bold to declare. Of coursn there ia room for improvement among the people of Utah, come of the in nt least, but we arp none of ua perfect, We may take the advice of tho Apostle Paul, wo may go on to perfection which I tell tueni. Well, wo made arrangements to have a New Yeara party at my Uncle Thomas Austin's, ami about 7 p. 111. 30 of ub sat down to tho table spread wih the bounties of the earth. After we had done justice to thecood thlncsset before ua we enjoyed ourselves in a aimiliar way to tho way tho peoplo of. Utah, enjoy themselves on bitch occasions, by singing and speaking. Wo had a song from my unclo and a great number of others. Before closing I gave them a brief sketch of Utah, ita customs and belief, nftor which with many hand Hlmkings wo parted for thr night all uxpressing themselves ns well pleased with tho eveuing'd outertainmeu;.
