10 AND 20 OF THE constitution OF THE STATE OF UTAH ING TO THE STATE EXECUTIVE department TERMS RESIDENCE AND DUTIES OF OFFICERS THE GOVERNORS appointive POWER IN PILLING FILLING OP OF VACANCIES IN CERTAIN OFFICES AND THE compensation OF STATE OFFICERS be it resolved by the legislature of the state of utah two thirds of all members elected to each house concurring therein 1 I 1 section 1 it is proposed to amend article VII sm sec 1 10 and 20 of the constitution of the st state ate of utah to read section the E executive department sham shall consist of governor secretary of sute state state lAudi auditor tor state Tre treasurer and attorney general each of whom shall hold his hia office for four years beginning on the first monday of january next after his hia election except that the terms of office of those elected at the first election shall begin when the state shall be admitted into the union and shall end on the first monday in january A D 1901 the officers of the executive department during their office shall reside atthe at the seat of government where they shall keep the public records books and papers p pers they shall perform the tales duties as are prescribed by this constitution and as may be prescribed by law section 10 the tha governor ahall nominate and by and with bonsen consent t of the senate appoint all state and distri t officers whose offices are established by this constitution or which may be created by law and whose appointment or election is not otherwise provided for if during the recess of the senate a vacancy occur in any state or district office the governor shall appoint some qualified person to discharge the duties thereof until the next meeting of the senate senat 3 when he shall nominate some person to fill such office if the office of secretary of state state tate auditor state treasurer or actor ney general be vacated by death resignation or otherwise it shill sin 11 be the duty of the governor to fill the same by appointment and the appointee shall hold his office until his hia successor shall be elected and qualified as aa may be by law provided section 20 the governor secretary of state auditor treasurer attorney beneral general and such other stats state and district officers as may be provided for by law shall receive for their services ger vicea monthly a campen compensation 8 aaion as aa fixed by law the compensation for said officers as provided in all laws enacted pursuant to this thia constitution shall be in full ford for all services rendered by said officers respectively in any official capacity or employment during their respective terms of office no such auch officer shall receive for the performance of any official duty any fee for his own use but all fees fixed by law for the performance by either cither of them of any official duty shall be collected in advance and deposited with the state treasurer monthly to the credit of the state the Legisla legislature tuie may provide for the payment of actual and necess necessary ary expenses of said officers while traveling in the th eState state in uw the performance of official duty section 2 the secretary of state is directed to submit this thia proposed amendment to the electors of the state at the next general election in the manner provided for in article section 1 of the constitution of the state of utah passed february 28 1949 A JOINT resolution PROPOSING TO AMEND SECTION 9 ARTICLE VI OF THE constitution OF UTAH RELATING T TO 0 compensation 0 OP F MEMBERS OF THE legislature NOT EXCEEDING A YE YEAR AR FOR THE legislative TERM AND A DAY EXPENSES WHILE ACTUALLY IN SESSION be it resolved by the legislature of the state of utah two thirds th ards of all members elected to each of the two houses voting in favor thereof section 1 it is proposed to amend article VI section 9 ot of the constitution of the Sta state teof of utah to read section 9 the members of the legislature shall receive such compensation not exceeding a year for the legislative term and a day expenses w while hile actually in session and mileage as provided by law section 2 the secretary of state misdirected is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the state of utah at the next general el election in the manner as I 1 provided for byi by article section 1 con ution of the state of utah section
