Show WILLIAM MIFFLIN PROMINENT I ALUMNI DIES Members of the Faculty and others of the wide circle of acquaintances of Will Mifflin l were recently shocked to hear that the promising young man had died after a P. very short attack of heart trouble Mr Mifflin was born bornat at Malad Idaho October 16 1879 1579 He was a graduate of the University of Utah taking a degree in ih electrical engineering engineering en en- in 1907 He was a hard student and an active worker in school activities and devoted a great deal ol ot time to dramatic work Entering the preparatory department in 1901 he appeared in seven different productions productions productions of the Dramatic club and was one of the clubs club's best men Imen and staunchest backers He was president president president dent of the club two years and manager manager manager man man- ager of the club during his last year at school He was president of his class in its Freshmen year and did much to cement that class into a unit that made it potent for great goodAs good As As' a member of pC the executive board of the Associated Student Body he used his is influence fo for everything everything that I tended to make ake a gre greater ter University He was a member of the Amici Fidis- Fidis simi Fraternity and of of f various engineering engineering en en- societies and clubs Upon leaving school he entered the profession which he had chosen chose as his lifes life's work and took a number of months month's special training with the General General Gen Gen- eral l Electric company at Schenectady New York Returning to Salt Lake in 1908 he taught mathematics at the L. L D. D S. S high school for one year and then entered the service of the Knight Power company His rise with this company was rapid owing to his native native native na na- na- na tive ability and nd great capacity for Work and he scon became field construction construction construction con con- engineer for the company Early in 1912 he entered the service of the Utah-Idaho Utah Sugar company with headquarters at Garland and here he remained until October 1912 when he became becam district manager for forthe forthe forthe the new Utah Power and Light company company company com com- pany with headquarters at Layton where his bright future was blighted by his untimely death |
