Show v CHANGES IN THE UNIVERSITY J There have been changes in the Unive University Faculty changes in its grounds ground its building its library in fact in all its outward aspects but perhaps the most interesting and important change of all is in its development of student life Within the last ten years Fraternity life has sprouted and grown class organizations and class spirit have developed Junior Proms and Senior Hops have borne witness to a growing and praiseworthy social life And in all these proceedings in the last few years the students have conducted themselves in a manner which proves their increasing knowledge of true college college college col col- lege life in all its aspects They have not ot however always known ju jut just t what to do under all conditions In proof of ot this there remains in the minds of many of the Alumni and of most of the Faculty the memory of a most astounding occurrence not altogether pleasant Of course cabbages and carrots and perhaps onions are useful and honorable bles They are too beautiful and savory when floating in soup or gravy or when growing i in n neat rows in gardens But as everything has its appropriate place or places so have these It is a remarkable coincidence however that some University students should have known all things did not at one time know the proper uses to which to put these vegetables These students actually believed that cabbages belonged on the theater stage and especially during during during dur dur- ing the University Dramatic Clubs Club's performance Inasmuch as the Faculty and some students of the institution were not noL of the same opinion great trouble arose between the opposing parties The cabbage wielders thought themselves imbued with deep college spirit and that the best way to show this admirable feeling was to transplant honest onions from their proper spheres to new new uninhabitable ones By profound reasoning dire threats and lengthy explanations however these vegetarians were convinced of their mistake mistake mistake mis mis- take and succeeding students have followed wisely wisely wise wise- ly in their footsteps not so much from necessity as from choice The result was self At the last Dra Dra- j matic performance the students were preset pres presen and were imbued with an equal or increased increase c amount of patriotism Their excellent sense sense however enforced d them to show it in a ver ven different manner The actors and non collegial t part of the audience may have preferred a sud sudden sudden sudden den volley of vegetables to the orderly appear appeal r rance ance ante of the boys who had come to give them college yells and sing their college songs in hon hono honor honorof J of their University and its representatives buin bu buin bu in such a case University students cannot affo r to please J n 0 |
