Show Zoning changes approved per case. The appointment was suggested by the City Attorney. -The council approved Glen Rowley's request to hold a Consumer Fair in the alley behind Main St. (east side) on Sat., from 10 to 5. -The council granted travel authorization for Police Chief Douglas Bolton and two officers to attend the Utah Peace Officers Convention in Logan. -The council listened to a report" from Milt Sevy on local nominees from Vietnam Veterans' Week. The nominees are Vietnam veterans who have made a positive adjustment in the community. The council gave a $220 scholarship donation to the Shakespearean Festival. Last year's award was $100. -The council met with new city employees Bonnie Moritz who will be the new water biling clerk and. assistant purchasing agent, and John. Christopher and Chuck Bauer who will join the police department. Councilwoman Barbara Starr reported on a Planning Committee recommendation to the city council last week to change an area adjacent to the hospital from a Zone R 2 to R 3 designation. Dr. Woolsey, a resident of the city, propooses a dental clinic in that area which would also include the care home. The proposed change was approved. i Starr also reported on. a recent meeting which whe attended in St. George with military personnel and other southern Utah officials concerning con-cerning the proposed missle site in the area. She commented that she was the only representative from the Cedar City-Iron County area and that none of the Iron County Commissioners Com-missioners had attended. Clean Ufeek The city council set June 4 through 9 as Clean Up Week. During this week, city crews will pick up bundled branches and other debris from yards which citizens have accumulated from spring pruning. Water Agreement , The council approved the extension of a water agreement with Ken , Middleton and instructed City Attorney At-torney Robert Braithwaite to write him a letter to that effect. The agreement between Middleton and the city was begun in 1938 and updated up-dated in 1969. The city will give Middleton ten water connections in exchangefor 1.2acrefeet of water per connection -The council approved the appointment ap-pointment of Phillip Eves of Parowan as Public Defender for the fee of $200 |
