Show Las Vegas child, lost on Cedar mountain, found after wandering for 26 hours One of the largest search parties in the history of this area were summoned Sunday to help locate a three-year old Las Vegas, Nev. girl who wandered from her family's campsite late Saturday evening. even-ing. The young lady, Miss Dean-na Dean-na Boivin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph V. Boivin, turned up late Sunday evening even-ing after be estranged from her family for 26 hours including includ-ing a night alone in the rugged rug-ged Dixie National Forest area. The child was located by Bud Nelson of Cedar City who late Sunday evening, on his own and on horse back, began a solitary search in the area known as Tippets Valley a-bout a-bout five miles from the Duck Creek Campgrounds where the girl was first discovered missing. miss-ing. Nelson, about to return to the campground area made what he thought would be a final effort and called the girls name. To his surprise the girl responded as she cried out inabling Nelson to find her. The girl was quickly brought to Cedar City where she was checked at the Valley View Medical Center then released re-leased to her family for their return trip to Las Vegas. Hundreds of residents from throughout the entire area responded re-sponded to a call for help in the search Sunday after the girl ' had been missing throughout the night. Seacrh and Rescue teams from four counties participated as did numerous individuals. Two airplanes were also involved in the search. The search was directed by LaNard Johnson, Kane County Sheriff and Ira Schoppmann, Iron County Sheriff. Sheriff Johnson issued the following statement for the tremendous response for help: "I and the Kane County Sheriff's Posse wish to express our appreciation and thanks to all who participated in the search for the little girl at Duck Creek Saturday evening even-ing and Sunday. "A special thanks to the group of Boy Scouts from Cedar Ce-dar City who did such a fine job." |
