Show BPW Club Members Assemble for January Meeting Good food, good fellowship, and an excellent program marked the regular meeting of the Cedar City Business and Professional Women's Wo-men's Club held at Sullivan's Cafe and attended by 29 members and guests. The tables were appropriately ap-propriately decorated for winter with clever snow men, frosted candles and white boughs. Three new members were introduced. in-troduced. They were Mrs. Kathleen Kath-leen Mitchell, Mrs. Florence Car-don Car-don and Mrs. Iva Jones. President Presi-dent Ada Carpenter announced the winter board meeting and leadership training school to be held in Salt Lake City Jan. 24, 25 and 26. Clifford Williams entertained delightfully with two songs, "Danny Boy," and "Because of You." He was accompanied by Mrs. Beth Leigh. A Christmas card showing pictures of her family fam-ily was received from Mrs. Esther Peterson, who was recently honored hon-ored by President Johnson. The Civic Participating committee, com-mittee, consisting of Mrs. Lllliam Lunt, general chairman, and its members, Mrs. Mary Anker, Mrs. Nita Henderson, Mrs. Elma Haycock, Hay-cock, Mrs. Anne Edwards, Mrs. Vera Sherratt, and Mrs. Mary Smith, was In charge of the meeting. meet-ing. The advantages of living in Cedar City were discussed by three speakers. Mrs. Blanche Dot-son Dot-son pointed out the educational opportunities available here, Miss LaRue Ford discussed health problems and organizations set up to help solve them, and Mayor May-or Kumen Gardner charted the industrial picture, emphasizing es and I still had to use a chair the many things that make Cedar City the hub of this end of the state. The next regular meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23 owing ow-ing to a conflict with a Music Arts program. |
