Show Parowan Rams Fail To Score Against Beaver Team The Parowan High School football foot-ball team dropped its opening league game to the Beaver Hig1! team last Friday night on tho Parowan field by a 2t to 0 score, in a game that featured a number num-ber of fumbles and many penalties penal-ties inflicted against both teams. The Parowan Rams lost the game by a marked weakness on offense against the more experienced exper-ienced Beaver team, being unable una-ble to maintain a sustained scoring scor-ing drive during the game. It wasn't until late in the foiutli quarter that the Rams threatened threaten-ed on long runs by Ken Simkins and again by Jimmie Robinson. These threats were stopped by a strong goal line stand by Beaver the first time and by a fumble the second time. The Parowan lefense was also weak against the Beaver passing attack and their runs around the ends piled up large gains, especially es-pecially in the first half when the visitors scored three times; once in the first quarter and twice in the second. The Ram defense de-fense stiffened in the second half, team to one touchdown, which came in the third period. The fourth period was even with the Parowan team making its best showing in this quarter. Coach John Wood has been working his squad hard this week in preparation for the Saturday Sat-urday encounter with the Dixie Flyers at St. George. Some changes chang-es have been made in the Ram lineup to give the team more good showing can be made against the last year state champions cham-pions from Dixie. The Parowan team gets a bye next week and will play Its next game at Parowan on Friday, Oct 10 with the Kanab team. |
