Gurr, who observe Golden Wedding date Saturday-evening, Jan. 29, with informal open house to which all relatives and friends are cordially invited. Peter H. Gurrs to Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary with Informal Open House Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Gurr, prominent memoers of this com-, munity will observe their Golden Wedding anniversary with an Informal In-formal open house on Saturday evening, Jan. 29, according to in-' formation given us by the members mem-bers of their family who are making mak-ing preparations for the event. The open house will be held from 7 until 10 p. m. that day in the Relief Society rooms of the First-Second First-Second Ward chapel, and all relatives rela-tives and friends are invited to call during those hours. Mr. and Mrs. Gurr have just returned home after spending 18 months in the Hawaiian mission field. They were married on Jan. 25, 1905 in the Salt Lake L D S temple and have been residents of Parowan since that time. Mr. Gurr was born at Bluff, San Juan County April 18, 1881, a son of William H. and Annie Hansen Gurr. Mrs. Gurr was born June 15, 1882 in Kanab, a daughter of Charles H. and Lu-clnda Lu-clnda Judd Oliphant. They met at Sunnyslde, Utah, where both were working and following their marrtapc' rnmpr tr Pnrnwan.tn t. side. They are the parents of 13 children, chil-dren, nine of whom are still living, liv-ing, and are as follows: Mrs. Jess (Golda) Guymon, Elmer, Arnold, Heber, Grayson and Kendall Gurr all of Parowan; Mrs. C. J. (Gall) Parry and Mrs. Burns (Ila) Sher- ratt, Cedar City, and Mrs. Murray Mur-ray (Anna) Rawson, Orem, Utah. I They also have 32 grandchildren ,and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Gurr engaged in freighting, freight-ing, coal hauling and farming and at the present time he and his sons operate one of the largest larg-est farms in Parowan valley. I Both have always been active in L D S church work. Mr. Gurr ( served in the ward Sunday School 'superintendency, has been a ward teacher for 50 years, has worked in the M I A, filled two stake missions, and was serving as president of the Parowan Stake High Priests quorum when called to the Hawaiian Mission field. Mrs. Gurr served in the presidency presi-dency of the Emery Stake Primary Pri-mary before she was married. She has worked in the MIA and has been a Sunday School teacher. She has served as president of the Ward Relief Society as well as a block teacher, and has been active in 4be local D U P organizations. |
