Show WITH this number the CHRONICLE ends its third volume and the present present present pre pre- sent board of f editors retire We lay down our pen and shears not entirely overjoyed d that the time time has come for forwith forwith forwith with all i its ts drudgery work on a college paper paper is not without its pleasures One le of our most pleasant variations from the d daily ily routine and yet a part of it it has been the perusal of our ex ex- changes hanges There is is to be sure somewhat somewhat some some- what of a sameness in college papers and much that appears in them could as aswell aswell well be left out but there is also a certain vein running through them which can be found nowhere else The college college colt col col- t lege journal has a sphere particularly its o own n a place in the newspaper world that nothing else supplies It has been our good fortune to receive among our exchanges a great number of the best college papers in America for there are a number which can all be called best and we trust that they will always be found on the table ours no longer As fa far as we are able to judge the great majority of college college college col col- lege papers are published to give experience to the students of the institution institution institution which they represent and are not run as a money making scheme This seems to us eminently proper and if the rule be strictly followed the college journal will be a success for all time There is a notable exception to this rule in a weekly paper published by an institution in California whose editors seem to think that to get money is the sole end and aim of existence A few short years of the methods now adopted by this particular paper and its existence will end not in a blaze of glory Among the students of the university in question the murmur of of discontent and nd disapprobation can already be heard which if unchecked will become the thunder of destruction And now we must leave you perhaps for a time perhaps forever and so making making making mak mak- ing our most graceful bow and smiling our most pleasant smile we bid you farewell |
