Show l OUR OUR defeat at the hands of the city High School football team the other day was not so humiliating as might seem at first thought Our team was simply a pick up Half the players had never seen a football till three days before the game Only three out of the eleven had ever played a game before There had been no team practice to sp speak ak of and after Cotton was disabled there was no one behind the line who could kick the ball on the third down But in spite of these difficulties the team went down and played three- three fourths of the game on their opponents' opponents ground At the close of the first half the High School had gained no decided advantage other than that th they y had learned our weak points When the second half opened the University began crowding the H High gh School and then began that practiced kicking and we were not in it Take away those kicks and the game would have been more evenly matched But the University University University sity team does not desire to find fault We see more good in the defeat than could possibly have been in a victory A University team was beaten by a High School team but the latter team was trained and besides being materially strengthened by High School professors U- U Uv v |
