Show Ellen Ballon Thrills . Audience With Music Ellen Ballon's stimulating performance per-formance Monday night was received receiv-ed with great enthusiasm by Cedar City ailtilence. She informed the group who lingered after the concert con-cert that any new zest In her music undoubtedly came from a side trip into Zlon National Park, which she certainly fell in love with and wishes some day to return to when she can Just "He around soaking up the beauty of the canyon." Miss Ballon had a beautiful, even tone and p'.ayed her selections wl'.li supurb control and feeling. Though the Chopin numbers were very gracelul and charmingly rendered, and It was mast thoughtful of her to attempt to interest the maiiy restless children attending, the recital, re-cital, I am sure real lovers of piano technique felt a little disappointed because she failed to complete her original program, Also, she really didn't play half enough to satisfy the music urge In most of those attending the performance. Cedar City Is very fortunate tr have had a taste (really a sip) of the ability of so accomplished a musician as Miss Ballon, and we all hope she will favor us again li the future. Upon her return to New York, she Is scheduled to piny In Town Hall on December 21 and later lat-er to appear under the baton of Sir Thomas Beecham. This was tlr first of her five scheduled performances perform-ances for Utah. |
