The office of city recorder Her-- Her-- bert Haight has been thorouhly renovated, being treated to paint and wall paper. A new desk has also been added, making the office decidedly attractive. Joint funeral services were held Thursday over the remains of the infants of Joseph Haslem and George A. Lunt. A large concourse of relatives and friends was in attendance. A shale crossing on Main street at a point between the Cedar City drug store and the Cedar Mercantile Co. has been put in during the week and has proven a great convenience to the public. H. E. Peterson returned Thursday from Salt Lake City feeling fairly well. Although his eye, which was injured recently re-cently while hunting rabbits, has not entirley healed,' it is greatly improved and Mr. Peter- son is glad that the injury did not result more seriously. . I A small blaze occurred Ihis ' (Friday) morning in the kitchen roof of the Cedars hotel. Mr. Granger, the manager, assisted as-sisted by a number of men en-,- , gaged in erecting the new build-' build-' ' ing adjoniing, suceeded in extinguishing ex-tinguishing the flames before any damage had been done. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Culver and children, who have been spending spend-ing the winter in Caifornia, will shortly return to their farm near Parowan. They report having hav-ing spent a mos,t enjoyable season sea-son in the land of sunshine and flowers, but now that the summer sum-mer sun will soon be shining in Iron county, they will be glad to again be at home. L. L. Williams, the automobile repairman, returned Wednesday from Salt Lake City, where he spent several days on business. The anouncement is made that the poplar Foote-Cloninger dramatic company will play a week's engagement at the opera house the week of the 17th. The mail driver ' for points north forgot to take the mail with him one day last week. He no doubt had the impression that it was only necessary to take the wagon. Billy's Place "The House of Quality". Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Haslem, who reside a few miles west of the city, entertained a pary of friends in their home last Saturday Sat-urday night. The evening was spent in playing games, dancing, danc-ing, and other amusements. Some of Mr. Adams' efforts, particularly reproductions re-productions of local business buildings, are especially commendable. com-mendable. The Royal Bakery opened Monday Mon-day with Milton Urie in charge. The new manager has been devoting de-voting the most of his time renovating and rearranging the stock and fixtures and consequently conse-quently has not been prepared to care for the needs of the public as completely as he expects to be within the next few days. |
