Show w INFLUENZA PREVENTS WAR SAVINGS MEETINGS Several meetings planned by director di-rector Odell to be held in various parts of the state had to be postponed because of the sudden outbreak of the flu. Those localities which do not have the flu will confer a favor the state W. S. S. organization by reporting the fact, so that meetings may DO arranged. To put forth to the people in a clear cut manner the purposes of the 1919 W. S. S. campaign, a statement has been given to the press, which we are sorry to say that only a small portion can be printed, but it is so full of meat, that we feel our readers should be given a part of it at least : "Thrift education or propaganda," the statement says, "which will permit per-mit permanent habits of laving and investment, is the basis upon which the campaign of 1919 is being conducted, con-ducted, and is the main measure relied re-lied upon to insure the immediate sales of War Savings Stamps. "The campaign In Utah, thui far, baa been conducted along the iinei suggested and the results obtained to date apparently warrant a 'ontin-l uance Of the same policy. In Decs I ber of L91S Utah stood fourth in the sales; in January, 1919, third. "The remarkable work done In 1918 placed Utah in excess of 88' i over the average of the states. Tins pec-cord pec-cord for mis entitles State Director Jeo. T. Odell and his fellow workers to the support of all loyal citissns for 1919. "The greateet assistance which the individual citizen can renter in insuring insur-ing the success of the 1919 War Savings campaigns is to practice and encourage the regular and permanent investment in W. S. S. "An active campaign throughout Hie schools of the state has already .been undertaken under the direction of State Superintendent Cowans, and a special committee. "Great credit is due to the teachers Of the .-late who have so willingly be-i coine authorised agents for W S S. riving each pupil the opportunity of I practicing thrift in the schools." |
