H At a meeting of the Local Board of H Health last evening it was decided to H modify the masking order to the ex- B tent of permitting the discontinuance! of the mask on the streets, except) B where two or more people are congre- H gating to gether or conversing face H to face, in which case they will be ex- H pected to use their masks. This, of H course, docs not cancel the require- H ment for the use of masks in Stores H nnd other places of business, but it H is stipulated that people employed in JH offices need not mask except white nerving customers, etc. H The status of the influenzu epidem-' H ic is much better this week--in fact! H the best it has been since the break - H nr out of the disease her 2. There B have been only two or three new eas- H es during the present week. Two of I H the children of Mrs. Conrad Hunter I H have the disease and there are two H cases in the family of Wiliam V. 1 Walker, father of Mrs. Hunter. It1 H was reported that Heleman Webster H was coming down with the disease, ' H but this has proved to be untrue. H Five or six days ago Mrs. Lottie BIBH Hunter and some members of her V family came down with "fin," out are H now about over it. So that if every- 1 body will be real careful for a few H (lays longer, there is an excellent BBB prospect of clearing up the scourge B The emergency hospital it the B. B A. 0. has been cleared of patients and BaBB closed, and the building is bcin ren- B&H ovated and gotten in readiness for H tne resumption of school worK Dec. HB .'10th, if no new contingency arises to B prevent. B It is only justice to Dr. Macfarlane BABSV and the efficient nurses, headed by BsBMl Mrs. Muycock and Mios Bowman, to BSBAB call atU'iition to the excellent record IflABB made by this emergency hospital dur- H ing the time it was in operation. In H all more than thirty patients, for the BH most part selected because of their H serious condition, were treated there, H and not a single death is charged H against it. With a well ventilated, BB steam heuted building, first-class BBB equipment and scientific nursing, in- H eluding strictly kept records of tem- H peraUire, medicines, diet, etc., the pa BB tients were given the wry best pos- H sible chance for their lives, as the re- BBVB -ults will prove. BBBB Cedar City as a community and par- H ticularly those who have passed thru BBBB the disease, owe a heavy debt of grat- BB itude to these noble ladies and the H therB who have given such valiant H and valuable service at the imminent BBBB risk to their own lives in caring for H the sick and needy, without which aid BBBB and assistance there would have been BBBB severe suffering and a much heavier H toll of E Exposures from travel are being BJ carefully guarded against, ami scver- BBH al persons stopping i.ere ha been H quarantined for the five day period.' jB The special health officers are still B making the rounds of their beats and BBH keeping a close lookout for any newj BflJB rases as well as a close surveliance I B over existing cases. So that every-' B thing possible is being done to eradi- B rate the scourge, and it is hoped that BB we may be practically clear of it by B Christinas. |
