Uly In 1910 there were in Utah! Jr1 more than 1500 cases and many I deaths from the disease. j 1 Typhoid fever is caused by a ! Ic germ which originates solely in jf a previous case of the disease and which is given off in vast1 I numbers in the discharges from I fthe body. The disease is contracted by' swallowing food or water which contains typhoid germs. The germs are deposited in the food by flies which have come in contact with discharges from a typhoid patient and in water! from wells or strpams into which the said discharges have drained. To prevent typhoid fever, all' discharges from a case of the B disease should be carefully dis- lm infected in accordance with the (Si law and rules of the State Board jffijL of Health, IB. All outhouses should he con- f structed in such sx manner as to B strictly exclude flies, and the ft source of drinking water should ! B be rigidly protected from sewage i 'pA t contamination. By these means wk typhoid fever with its harvest of m death may surely be eradicated' 9 from Utah.
