Show H There is a growing statement in H favor of having the Ward hall com H plcted by another winter and equip H ped with a good stage and sccuei'y H so that our city may have a house H suitable to its population for drama- Xtic representations. A few weeks ago a number of our leading men call ed the attention of Architect Dallas Dal-las to the matter and had him ex amine the hall with a view to the H adding a stage thereto The gen- H tleinan is of the opinion that a good H stage and dressing rooms can be H added at comparatively small expen- H se and the building made a good H , one for dramatic work. His idea is H to open up the west end of the hall B wide enough for the stage, and build dressing rooms under it. Bishop Lunt informs us that it is the intention inten-tion to have this work done before another winter. Negotiations are are pending between the Cedar Stock Company and the ward authorities au-thorities for the putting in of the scenery. Although the floor of the Hall is level the architect says the stage floor can be so inclined as to give a good view of the stage from the back part of the house over the heads of these in front. It would be a good plan to call a mass meet ing and lay the. matter before the commnnity at an early date and secure sec-ure a united action of possiplc, after having. presented the need of the improvement in a logical and earnest ear-nest manner. With a little help from the whole people the labor of completing this building would hardly be a breakfast spell. A prominent pro-minent citizen remarked in our healing heal-ing lately that if the amount that we pay to traveling shows was saved for one year it would complete that building; and it struck us that he was about right. |
