Show Obituary. Quigley. On Saturday. Oct. 18, John P. Quigley Quig-ley died, at the advanced age of 78 years. Dr. Quigley was born in St. Louis in 1825 and spent his early boyhood days in that place. In 1S31 he moved to Dubuque Du-buque and was one of the pioneer settlers set-tlers of that place. He studied medicine medi-cine when young and for many years was one of the leading practicing physicians phy-sicians of that place.. For a time he also ran a newspaper in Michigan. For some time past Dr. Quigley was In poor health, and four years ago he came to this city, with his wife, to reside with his son. Charles A. Quigley, Quig-ley, manager for Studebaker Bros, of this city. The deceased was a man of the finest character, and as husband and father he was a truly noble type-of what a Christian parent should be. Although nearly SO years old, and almost an invalid, in-valid, he retained his mental faculties unimpaired to the last moment of his life. All who knew him were forced to admire the beautiful qualities of his mind and heart. He was always a God-fearing man, ever faithful to his religious duties, and had the rare faculty fac-ulty of making all around him happy by his cheery, hopeful disposition. Always Al-ways young in heart, his presence will be greatly missed from the home circle, and particularly by little Charlie Quigley, Quig-ley, the young grandson of the deceased, de-ceased, who was never happy when away from "Grandpa." He leaves a wife and two sons to mourn his loss. To them is extended the sincere sympathy of a legion of friends. The remembrance of the beautiful beau-tiful life and grand character of John Quigley will ever linger in the hearts of all who knew him. He died as he lived.
