But Mr. I Continued on Page o. i I l 1 j ! UNITARIAN BIGOTRY. (Continued from Page 1.) Brown does not believe in Satan's existence. But if we concede, which in reality we do not, that we have no proof of a personal devil, has he any evidence evi-dence that the prince of evil is not and never was? We have the Savior's word that there is such an antagonist of God and the children of men. We might, too, concede there is no God for the sake of argument, and then prefer to follow such human leaders as Pope Leo XIII. of blessed memory and Pope Pius X. of today rather than Mr. Brown. We think Pope Pius X good enough, thank you, and when we want such men in Peter's Se at Tiome as Unitarian Brown we will let him know if you please, or God will inform him. t Almighty God is seen by the visible things of His creation. There is not a single tiling in the world separate from what an Almighty Savior made that came into being of it3 own indigenous power, the materials of which, the primitive ingredients are impossible for man to create. Every edifice, grc.at or small, every chair, stove, locomotive, etc., while made by man was impossible without the first materials and man's mental-ingenuity. Man could not create his own brain, one hair of his head, a grain of sand of the sea or the petal of a rose. The majestic tides of the sea that ebb and flow at no man's behest; the orbs of day and night shining in the supernal firmament like kings of justice over men; the wastes of waters, now calm, now raging; the sunset that precedes the evening twilight, the silent dawn advancing regally at the birth of day; the sacred emotions of the human heart, the yearnings yearn-ings and the hopes of men; the myriads of fishes in the undulating seas, the silent forests with their woodland isles; the lowing herds for the sustenance of man; the waving grain of many lands; the solemn sol-emn stillness of the Sabbath dav the bolv vales and hamlets of Judea; the hallowed places of Israel's kings; the sanctified dust of Calvery's hill, stained by the blood of a murdered God, .cry out with one universal voice, like the lightning flash and thunder thun-der roar: Behold! he who denies the Christian's God is anti-Christ and accursed for evermore. Because a socialist discovered the sins of the meat packers it demonstrates the church is false! What logic in this twentieth century. How unanswerable! un-answerable! Xo institution stands as firmly with the labor unions as the Catholic church. Innumerable Innum-erable thousands of her members are unionists. Today, To-day, the Roman Catholic church is fighting and i battling manfully, as in every age gone by, for the sacred, inviolable rights of every child that comes into the world. And she is frustrated and baffled at every step by descendants of the sixteenth century cen-tury "reforming" Catholics. They will have no Christian teachings in the schools. They will teach what great infidels wrote, but the commandments of Christ? Bah! They will have none of them. "Oyer half a million men, women and children are being killed or injured every year in American industries, and in the vast majority of cases the desolated families have no redress, receive no compensation, com-pensation, must lose their self-respect and become pensioners on public charity paupers." Xone of the men who are responsible for these conditions believe in Christ, in an everlasting heaven heav-en and an eternal hell. Hardly any of them are good Catholics. Do they concern themselves with these frightful sentences? It is harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than it is for a camel to go through the eye of a needle. Again: What does it profit a man if he gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his own soul, or what can be given in exchange for his immortal soul? And again: Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat. there-at. How narrow is the gate, and straight is the ! way that leadeth to life: And few there are that j find it. Mournful and sorrowful words. Who can disprove their truth? They were spoken by one who was a veritable king of men. How long will the Protestant and Catholic people who believe in Christ tolerate such an instil tor of a lonely, dying Savior in their midst as is this Unitarian Brown? Is toleration a virtue in such a case? The writer does not mean the use of physical violence, but this man should be ostracized. St. Paul says: "Do not so much as bid such a one Godspeed. He should be compelled by the justice of the community to abstain frqm insulting the Savior of men, the Christian's God and the Creator of the universe. '-' ' -inn li our faith, but let him cease insulting the child of L Mary, the holy babe of Bethlehem, who wronged j no man. Good men and true of all creeds look to it. Such a one is dangerous to your children's morals. mor-als. The terrible evils of infidelic industrialism r must and shall be abolished by God-fearing, Christ-u Christ-u Moving men. not by anarchists. n The enemies of Christ, when he went about doing do-ing good cleansing the leper?, giving signt to the blind, hearing to the deaf and healing all manner y of diseases, and whose birth and death were pre- dieted for 4.000 years, called him a maniac, a t drunkard, a fool, a liar, a blasphemer and a devil. Under one form or another the hostile and evil spirit that prompted these vile and slanderous ar-; ar-; tacks has continued down through the ages and finds it fulfillment in Mr. Brown's latest utterance in styling the Savior of the world a tramp preaeh- er PJCARDO. |
