Show DEER LODGE. Meeting of Literary Societies of St. Mary's Academy. During the month of November many notable literary and musical programmes pro-grammes were rendered by the pupils of St. Mary's academy at Deer Lodge. On the evening of Nov. 8 the members mem-bers of the St. Theresa literary circle held their regular meeting. The first part of the evening was taken up with outlining the work to be done during December and the appointment of those who are to prepare papers. The young ladies appointed are Misses Ryan, Dunn, Kippe, Murphy, Furst, O'Leary, Crangle: on current events. Misses Furst. Narby and Crangle. Great progress prog-ress is being made by the . circle, and new members are added at every meeting. meet-ing. The following programme was rendered at the last meeting of the circle: cir-cle: Hymn, "The Annunciation;" editorial, edi-torial, "The Value of a Taste for Good Literature," Miss McMahon; violin solo, Miss A. Murphy; current topics. Miss E. Crangle and Miss A. Furst: "What Are We to Think of Cheap Literature Lit-erature ?" Miss Murphy; vocal selection, selec-tion, Miss Duggan: "Literature as a Great Educational Factor," Miss Narby; Nar-by; banjo solo, Miss Kennedy. The meeting of the St. Cecelia club, he!(t on the evening of Nov. 22, will long be remembered. The programme rendered was as follows: Chorus, "Fairyland," glee club: address. Miss Duggan; banjo solo. Miss Kennedy: "Thi Vision of Handel." Miss Dur.n: guitar solo. Mrs. E. Brady; "Autobiography "Auto-biography of a Violin," Miss Crangle: piano solo, "Whispering Winds." Miss Narby; "The Dying Minstrel to His Guitar." Miss Duppee; vocal solo. Miss Kennedy; "The Judgment of St. Cecilia," Ce-cilia," in one act. Misses McMahon, Duggan, Murphy, Kippe, Crangle; selection, se-lection, mandolin club; chorus, glee club. The academy hall and the stage were artistically decorated with white and blue. ' On the- completion of the programme an oyster supper was served. Thanksgiving day was enjoyably spent at St. Mary's academy. After en elaborate Thanksgiving supper, served at 6 o'clock in the evening, the scholars were left to their own amusement. amuse-ment. In the evening a social dance was held in the ballroom. Mrs. J. M. Kennedy of Anaconda came down last Sunday and spent the day in a pleasant visit with her daughters. daugh-ters. Misse Pearl and Hazel, who are attending-St. Marys academy. Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Keiley returned from an extended visit to their ranch near Helmvllle. |
