The musical programme for the after- noon consisted of a vocal solo by Mis? Ida Wcick. accompanied by Miss Bro-phy, Bro-phy, and an instrumental selection by Mrs. Henry Vidal. About thirty-five young women were present, which is the largest meeting held since the early days of the club. Misf Maloney made a delightful hostess and the meeting was one of the pjeasa ntest ever held. Good Shepherd Picnic. Scores of friends of the House of the Good Shepherd held a meeting last Sunday afternoon in the Fraternal Union hall on Champa street, to perfect arrangements for a picnic to be given in June in aid of that institution. When the call was issued it met with a magnanimous mag-nanimous response, and numerous suggestions sug-gestions were advanced to insure the social ami financial success of the af- I Scarcely once a year an appeal is made for public charity, and when that Appeal comes it does not fall on deaf ears. The picnic will undoubtedly be well attended and a goodly sum will be j realized for the benefit of the House of I the Good Shepherd. 1 Alumnae Meeting. DEATH OF" MRS. "O'MALIA.' " The sympathy of a host of friends-is friends-is with the sons and daughters of Mrs. Mary O'Malia intheir bereavement over her death, which occurred early Sunday Sun-day morning. Mrs. O'Malia was 74 years of age, and had enjoyed an especially espe-cially active life until seized with pneumonia, pneu-monia, just three weeks' ago. She was a prominent member of the Cathedral parish, and the funeral was held from Logan avenue chapel with high mass of requiem on Tuesday morning. Mrs. O'Malia was the mother of fourteen children, seven of whom now live in Denver. The family home is at 1740 Emerson street. Interment was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. f James J. Maloney who died at Elbert. Colo., last week was buried in Mount Calvary cemetery Monday afternoon.. Mav he rest in peace. Gavin after a weeks vaca tion with his parents and friends in Denver returned to New Mexico Friday Fri-day last. Mr. Gavin is a civil engineer and his field of labor is in Arizona and New-Mexico. New-Mexico. He is succeeding admirably in Irs work and making many friends. He is- a graduate of the Sacred Heart college. Miss Helen Harrington went to Idaho Springs Friday to remain over-Sunday with her sister. Miss Mary Harrington has accepted a reappointment at the Springs for the next school year. Rev. Father Wehelan is rapidly recovering re-covering health and strength. Rev. Father O'Malley of Silverton spent a. few days' of last week in Denver. Den-ver. He left for his parish again on Friday evening. Father O'Malley was formerly; assistant at the Cathedral parish, and he is now quite enthusias-tric enthusias-tric over his work in the mountain town. While in Denver he celebrated the third anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, and was the recipient of congratulations on all sides. ..He was the guest of Rev. William O'Ryan of St. Leo's. Father O'Malley's new parish is in a thriving condition and he-fiopes to build up the largest congregation the church there has ever known. Rev. John B. White, formerly of; the Cathedral parish and later at.Colorado City, was here last week a guest at the Mercy sanitarium. Father White was on his way back to his old 'home in Pennsylvania, but stuped off here for a visit. His place at Colorado-City is- being supplied by Father Brihker", formerly of Denver. . - ' . "".s |
