Show SACRED HEART ACADEMY. Literary Society Named in Honor of Sister M. Annunciate. Ogden, Nov. 14. The Literary Society is proving its devotion to Shakespeare by an earnest study of "Macbeth," and its appreciation of Tennyson by a critical crit-ical analysis of some of his best poems. At the last meeting "Locksley Hall" and "Locksley Hall Sixty Years After" afforded subject matter for an interesting interest-ing and animated debate. Miss Jean McMillan led the contestants who favor fa-vor "Locksley Hall," which was regarded re-garded as a reflection of Tennyson's youth. Miss Marion Reed led the opposing op-posing host, which considered the later poem as a reflection of the poet's old age. Each party sustained its side by thoughtful arguments, -and the contest was rendered sprightly by ready retorts re-torts and frequent sallies of wit. By a vote of the class of 1902 the society so-ciety has changed its name and now rejoices in the beautiful title, "Annun-eiata "Annun-eiata Literary society.": The new name not only places it under the direct patronage of the Queen of Heaven, but also serves to perpetuate the remembrance remem-brance of one whose memory is held dear at Sacred Heart, Mother M. An-nunciata, An-nunciata, the lately deceased mother general of the Sisters of Holy Cross, former superior of Sacred Heart academy. |
