One of the pleasant social events of last week was a studio tea given by Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Taggart on Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. Miss Eloise Sherman has gone to Butte to visit Miss Eleanore Horgan. f Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grant are in the east. Mr. and Mrs. James Burbank of Pueblo, Colo., spent a few days in the city last week. Thev were going to California for a month's trip. The condition of Miss Kate Mackenzie, Macken-zie, the Salt Lake teacher who is seriously seri-ously ill at the St. James hospital, Butte, is much improved. Hoyt Sherman has gone to Denver. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Gorham have returned re-turned from the east. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. McCune, jr., have gone to New York. Miss Elizabeth Cosgriff has gone to Denver for a brief vlsit. Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Channing, jr.. spent last week at Castllla Springs. Miss Anna McCornick leaves soon for a two months' visit in New. York. Mrs. D. C. McLaughlin and daughter have returned from the east. Mrs. S. S. Walker and Miss Nellie Walker have returned from Butte. Mrs. R. J. Colman and daughter, Miss Colman, arrived last week from Denver, and are living at the Fifth East hotel. Mrs. W. Marcellus Gray of St. Anthony, An-thony, Ida., is visiting her mother, J Mrs. A. P. Sinclair. M. A. Berger and his bride of Butte are in the city. The bride was Miss Elizabeth Evans, and they were married mar-ried a few days ago. Mr. Bererer is business manager of the Inter Mountain. Moun-tain. Mrs. Lee Goetchins delightfully entertained en-tertained the card club of which she Is a member Friday of last week. Condon. - Among the pleasant card parties of last week was that given by the Misses Cosgriff in the Kenyon parlors. Nine tables were used for the game of sixty-three. sixty-three. The ladies' first prize was won by Mrs. J. T. Keith, the second by Mrs. S. .C. Adams of Denver, and the consolation by Miss Georgle Savage. The gentlemen's prizes were awarded Mr. J. B. Cosgriff, Mr. J. T. Lynch and Mr. Cunningham. The players were: Dr. and Mrs. Maclean, Mr. and Mrs. Porter. Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Keith, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Officer, Colonel Donnellan, Mr. and Mrs. D. One of the most elaborate and brilliant bril-liant events of the season was the dancing party given by Mr. and Mrs. A. H. S. Bird and Miss Anna McCornick. McCor-nick. Mrs. T. G. Odelf'came down from Butte last Monday to visit her mother. Mrs. Hardy. Colonel and Mrs. M. S. Shaughnessy will leave shortly for the east. The Utopia Card' club will be reorganized reor-ganized shortly by the ladies who belonged be-longed to the club last year. Miss Winnie Welby leaves next week for a trip to New York. Mrs. J. A. Reeves and son have returned re-turned from a visit to Denver. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Hagenworth of Spencer, Ida., are in the city and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wood -S J. E. Dooly left last week for a hurried hur-ried business trip to California, J. B. Flemming, a well known mining man of Park City, spent last Sunday in Salt Lake. - , James T. Welch, formerly manager of the Finlen-Medin Drug company at Butte, and now traveling salesman of the Richardson Drug company of Omaha, was in the city last week He left for Portland on Tuesday. Wr. H. Cramer, a prominent cattleman cattle-man of Billings, Mcnt., spent a few days in the city last week. E. AVells, a prominent- stockman of Hailey, Ida., was in the city last week. J. J. Daly spent a few days in Park City last week. James Duffy, manager of the D. and M. Mine at Park City, spent a few days in the city last week. T. F. and E. J. Kearns of Gunnison are visitors to the city for a few days. The Utopia club, on the afternoon of Wednesday next (Nov. 20), at 2 o'clock, , will hold its first meeting of the season and be entertained by Mrs. George W Reed of 624 Second street. Mr. and Mrs. James Duffy of Park City have come to the city to reside and will soon be located in their elegant ele-gant new home. , ? The marriage of Miss Annie Ward of this city and Mr. John Flannlgan of Victor, Colo., will take place at St. Mary's cathedral next Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Egan will not return re-turn until next month from their wedding wed-ding tour. |
