When,-the Senior.-? filed int-i the recreation hall last Sunday evening air unusual visitor greeted the n with the j query: "May I be a Senior?" Not a j donkey., -but a genuine-looking Ricky : Mountain burro, the guest proved to be. j The young ladies and Juniors also . passed'a.delightful evening endeavoring to attach, in the proper place, the c.iu-dal c.iu-dal appendage of this interesting animal.: ani-mal.: Some aimed at a decorative oush far ahead of the biped, while others reached above tho stretcher on whica he w-as so naturally delineated. , A souvenir paper-weight, the prize for accuracy, was awarded Miss Nellie Griffin of Nevada, while the booby prize delicious watermelon, the last of the season was merited by Miss Edna Powell of Nebraska, but all shared in her treat. The succeeding evenings of the -week were spent in playing "hearts" a game in which all appear well versed, though no one has yet claimed a prize. St. Luke's day, Oct. IS, was celebrated- in traditional style at Sacred Heart .academy by the art pu:ils and their-friends. Amid artistic settings, a delicious luncheon was spread, and all enjoyed the privileged treat. Visitors took advantage of the occasion to glance at the work of the pupils, as it stood' in the'diffefent stages of progress. pro-gress. Novejties in wood carving that historic art now so generally revived received due admiration, but the studies in still life were so . true to nature that ona miarht easilv credit the storv of Praxitiles and his fabled grapes. 4 Those' who some " months ago denounced-Grover Cleveland when he attacked at-tacked the ; woman . suffrage .question may not agree with our point of view-when view-when we declare that -at no time does a woman look so thoroughly feminine as when- her deft fingers ply a dainty needle. -. Then does she appear in her-true her-true attitude an altitude that has been immortalized in picture, poem and song, as revealed by a Hoffman, a Browning and a- CJounod. To really thoughtful minds, co-education tends to strengthen this assertion, for there is no creature less lovcabie than an unwomanly woman, Avhether this epithet of opprobrium be hurled at her on account of deeds done or domestic domes-tic duties- left undone. 'Educators should be the - last persons to undervalue under-value abilitr in literary or scientific lines', nor would we wish io be thought guilty of such a failing, but pain sewing,; sew-ing,; r.e.diework and air the exclusively feniininf arts should receive encouragement encourage-ment at institutions for young ladies. - - 4: A 'jeeu into our fancy wuik room every Saturday morning viU convince the. visitor that at Sacred Hem academy there -is a time for everv-thii.g. everv-thii.g.
