John Shea hap returned from Butte and will remain in Eureka. j - - 4 . - I Mrs. O'Brien and "the Misses Annie and Fellie Sullivan, who have been visiting the family .of D. J. Sullivan, returned to their homes in Butte last week. I - y , Mrs. Mary Downey, wife of Timothy i Downey of this place, died Saturday of pneumonia, aged 42 years. A week ago she gave birth to a babe and was shortly afterwards stricken with pneu-mdnia. pneu-mdnia. She leaves a husband and four children. The funeral took place from St. Patrick's church, Monday afternoon. after-noon. . Mrs. Mary Downey, wife of Timothy ' Downey, a well known and estimable lady of this city, died Saturday morning morn-ing of pneumonia. About a week ago the lady gave birth to an infant, and j in some manner took cold, which' re- suited in her death. Deceased was 43 I years of age, and leaves, besides her I husband, four children, to mourn her sad departure. The funeral took place from St. Patrick's church on Monday, : Rev. Superintendent Sul- ; livan gave the signal to hoist the cage, i but the bell did not work properly or else Engineer Beckstead misunderstood the signal, which is hardly likely, and . the cage was lowered into the sump. Merrs. Sullivan, Wood, Lynch and ) Wheeler, who were upon the cage, were all given a dip, that is nearly to the waist, in the cold water. ( t |
