Show Diocese of Boise AMERICAN FALLS. Conversions Resulting From Father Hendricks' Visit New Church. (Special Correspondence.) American Falls. bb. 25. The Catholics Cath-olics of American Falls were blessed with a visit from the Rev. W. J. A. Hendricks of Montpelier. The Rev. Father arrived here by the evening train on Tuesday. He was met at the depot by Mr. James Nevins. at whose home the reverend father stayed while here. On Wednesday morning mass was celebrated at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Twomey. Confessions were heard before the celebration of mass and about a dozen Catholics performed their Easter duty. Much to the regret of nearly all tiie inhabitants of this place the reverend father's visit was a very short one, but he has promised to visit us again on one of the Sundays in April, when I public services will be held in the town hall. The readers of tbe Intel-mountain . Catholic will be pleased to learn that , within the next three months a church I will be built in this town. Mrs. Mary j Franklin has donated two acres for the purpose and Father Hendricks has I authorized Mr. E. Twomey to take up I subscriptions. The reverend father i himself heads the list with $25. Father Hendricks went to Gentile j Valley, in answer to a petition signed j by seventeen families living in that place who desire to be received into j the true church of Jesus Christ. The , prayers of all the readers of the Inter- I mountain Catholic are earnestly re- j quested that the Almighty God will grant to Father Hendricks health and j strength so that, he can continue in i his good work for many years to come so that all the poor, deluded people may be converted to the true faith. And in connection with his visit to the valley, the reverend father intends to purchase the building formerly owned by the Presbyterians. WM. J. STEPHEXSOX". I |
