Arrangements have been completed for the housing of the entire Tabernacle Taber-nacle choir of 200 members at the American Inn within the exposition grounds at Portland. , An entire wing of 100 rooms is set apai-t for the' Ogden Og-den choir people and a section of the dining room reserved for their use at meal time. The -American Inn is the only hotel inside the exposition grounds and is conceded to be one of the most advantageous and pleasant places at which to stay. 4- The last session of the city council was largely occupied in passing a large .number of estimates and payrolls and in passing a number of notices of intention in-tention to establish paving and suffering suffer-ing districts and sidewalk districts, and in other matters pertaining to street improvements. J. P. O'Neill was allowed al-lowed six different estimates on as many pieces of work, the total amounting amount-ing to $11,396.50. The Wheelwright Construction company v as grant-d a total of $2,870.80. Of this, $760.43-was on a sewer contract, the balance being oft sidewalk construction. The liner on which he was returning re-turning from Europe reached quarantine quaran-tine and Mr. Becker sent the message from there. He has been absent a omit five months in Germany and s returning re-turning much improved in health. He will return at once to Ogden. 4 A carload of Chinese came in Tuesday Tues-day from the east and were sent on to San Francisco, the occupants being be-ing returned to China in charge of United States officers.
