Show I SOCIAL AND PERSONAL I i i Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Walker entertained enter-tained a few friends at a dinner Monday Mon-day evening at their apartments in the Louise. Their quests were Mr. and Mrs. Edward S. Ferry and Mr. and Mrs. Walter G. Filer. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wood entertained informally at dinner Saturday evening in honor of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Glen-dinning. Glen-dinning. . Mr. and Mrs. Louis McCornick entertained enter-tained at dinner at the Country club last Saturday preceding the regular Saturday night dance. Mrs. Henry Siegel, accompanied by her son Harold, left Sunday afternoon for St. Louis, where they will attend the marriage of Miss Henrietta Lazarus Laza-rus and Mr. Baker of that city. Mrs Siegel will probably spend the winter in New York. Mr. and Mrs. T. Roy Brown and children chil-dren have gone to southern California, where they will spend the winter. 1 .... TI... Robert Gorlinski. the well-known surveyor, sur-veyor, is out making the rounds or Utah mining camps. Chief of Police Sheets is in receipt of a letter from Martin Hanley of Butte Mon., asking that an effort be made to locate his son, Martin Hanley, Jr., who is believed to be in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Sherman and Miss Laura Sherman will be at home to friends for a few days after November 14 at the Kenyon. Dr. and Mrs. F. D. McNaught of Denver were guests in the city Monday on their way to southern California. Mr. and Mrs. F. E. McGurrin are back from Los Angeles, where they have spent the past ten days. Mrs. E. C. Parsons left Monday on the noon train for Denver, where she will join Mr. Parsons to make her home. They will be at home at the Adams hotel. Miss Beatrice Cheesman and Miss Gertrude Hanson were the hostesses Wednesday evening at a Halloween party which was a masquerade and fancy dress affair given in the old J R. Walker home on South Main street. About 150 friends were invited and these were received by Mrs. M. J VMieesman, Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. J. U. Walker. Many unique costumes were yvorn for the evening. Mrs. A. Fred Wey entertained a box party of little folk Tuesday at the matinee mat-inee at the Ornheum in honor of the birthday of little Olive Wall. The affair af-fair was followed by a supper served at a downtown cafe and an automobile ride later. The guests besides Olive Wall, were Mary Hagenbart.h, Naomi Hoffman. Darlene Kimball, Morris Daly, Margaret Brown, Grace Cunningham Cun-ningham and Xenia Cowan. The members of the Alumnae association asso-ciation of St. Mary's academy will meet on Saturday afternoon at St. Marys academy for the annual banquet. This year, contrary to custom, the members of the Alumni association will be guests of the faculty of the academy, the sis-ers sis-ers providing the banquet for them. The members will meet at 3 o'clock at the academy and at 3:30 they will be the guests at a program given by the students; the business meeting will be hed at 5 o'clock and the banquet at 6. Miss May Fitzgerald has arrived , in the city from Anaconda to accept a position in the public schools here. Miss Fitzgerald is a sister of Miss Elizabeth Fitzgerald, a valued teacher in the Webster school. Francis Fitzgerald, a brother, has recently arrived from Minneapolis to accept a position on the Salt Lake Herald. The family are comfortably located at the Wilfiy fiats on Pierpont street. Miss Clara Fafek will spend the yvln-ter yvln-ter in southern California. - Mrs. J. C. Sullivan and the children have gone to Los Angeles to spend the winter. Miss Sigrid Pedersen has accepted the position of piano instructor at All Hallows Hal-lows college. Senator K earns returned last yveek from a business trip to Ely. Captain J. E. Woodward has returned re-turned to Salt Lake after an absence of several weeks. Louis McCornick spent a few days in Idaho last week. " Walker Salisbury went to Idaho last week on a business trip. Mr. Lam-I Lam-I lugh was taken to St. Mark's hospital and given the best of attention, but the doctors claim that he has seriously fractured his right leg. The accident would have resulted in the death or the entire crew had they not jumped Mr. Lamplugh has been on the Western for fifteen years and this yvas his first accident, a record of which any man should be proud. His many friends hope for his speedy recovery. Mrs. P. L. Gleason and Miss Nora Gleason are now at home at 260 First street. Mrs. J. R. Focht was the guest of Mrs. C. C. Slade during the past week. Hanson returned yesterday yester-day from an eastern trip. Munroc Salisbury, brother of O. J. I Salisbury of Salt Lake, arrived in this city late Sunday night on his way to his home in San Francisco. Mr. Salisbury Salis-bury is returning home to San Francisco Fran-cisco now to spend the winter in California. Cali-fornia. He says a residence of many years in California justifies him in saying say-ing that it is the finest all-around climate cli-mate on this continent. Munroe Salisbury, formerly of Gil-more Gil-more & Salisbury Star route stage lines, is one of the most widely known men in this country. He stopped off in Salt Lake to visit his brother and shake hands with old-time friends, of whom there are many here he has not met r for many years. Mr. Salisbury bears his years well, and has changed but little in the last decade. Miss Elizabeth Dooly, who has been visiting in the city, has gone to Chicago to continue her musical studies. Miss Flora E. Baldwin is located permanently per-manently in Goldfield, where she has taken a position. Mr. and Mrs. J J. Daly entertained Thursday at a dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown. Mrs. A. A. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joseph Schlacks of Denver were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. James O'Connor during the past week. Mrs. Schlacks is a niece of Mr James O'Connor and daughter of Dr. O'Connor of Denver. The young couple are on their yvedding tour. |
