Show BARS K. C.S FROM DIOCESE. Bishop McEvay of London, Ontario, has Barred the Knights-of Columbus from his diocese until they make a change in their rules permitting pastors pas-tors to attend meetings and initiations without becoming be-coming members of the order. Several months ago some Catholic gentlemen in Stratford, Ontario, desired to form a council there and consulted Very. Kcv. Dean McGee. who wrote the" Bishop of London and received a reply in which he says : "Although there are plenty of Catholic societies iu Stratford at present, still 1 am prepared to give favorable consideration to the request provided the members arcablc and willing to comply with the diocesan regulations regarding Catholic societies. "As you know one of these important regulations regula-tions is that the pastor of each parish is held responsible re-sponsible for the proper conduct of every society under his jurisdiction, and hence it follows that the pastor must have the right to attend all meetings, meet-ings, whether he is a member or not a member of. any particular society, and where there are two parishes, as in Stratford, the Bishop names the, priest who will be responsible. "According to the present Constitution and ritual rit-ual of the Knights of Columbus, either b- oversight over-sight or by design, it seems that a pastor is excluded ex-cluded from the meetings unless he first becomes a member of the Knights, and as this is contrary to the regulations and practices of this diocese, I am obliged to refuse my approval until such tinip as the risrht ctf the pastors is admitted."
