Show COLORADO SPRINGS. j ' i (Special Correspondence,) Rev. Father Hagus delivered an eloquent elo-quent sermon on confession at the high mass, and Rev. Father Raber delivered deliv-ered a grand sermon on the Passion, of Our Lord at the vesper services on last Sunday. The ladies of the Altar society held their monthly meeting at 4 o'clock. i The church trustees meet at the rectory rec-tory on Sunday afternoon. Next Sunday, Palm Sunday, the blessing of the palms will take place before the high mass. The Tenebrae will be one of the features fea-tures at the evening services during Holy week. The week-day masses are largely attended at-tended and on last Friday (first Friday), Fri-day), a large number of our parishioners parishion-ers received holy communion. Miss Ella Zimmerman of 27 East Bijou Bi-jou street is very ill at St. Francis hospital, hos-pital, and on Friday it was necessary for her to undergo an operation for appendicitis. ' A host of friends are praying for a speedy recovery. St. Mary's choir has been reheasing for the Easter music under the very able director. Professor Carl Zittel. Mr. Jaffee, the well known tenor, will render Rossini's "Cujus Animam" at the high mass on Palm Sunday. Air. and Mrs. W. H. Ragen of Springfield, III., who have been visiting visit-ing at Los Angeles, Cal., Reno, New, and Salt Lake City, for the past six weeks, spent Saturday and Sunday here. They attended high mass at St. Mary's church. Mr. P. J. Malloy. wife and sister. Miss Mary Agnes 'Malloy, all of Denver, Den-ver, spent Sunday here. Miss Grace and her little sister, Irene, were the recipients of a very beautiful rich tone piano, given td them as a birthday gift by their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Fitzgerald, 1122 Glen avenue. Some people borrow trouble, some save trouble. Rev. P. L. Train of Cincinnati, O., was a caller at the rectory on Thursday. Thurs-day. Father Train was returning from a journey to San Francisco, Los Angeles An-geles and San Diego, and expects to be at home by Passion Sunday. Rev. D. J. McShane of Duluth. Minn., spent a few days here early in the week. James A. Bond of Kansas City, Mo., arrived here Tuesday. He made a few calls on some of the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus and then left in the evening for Denver. Isadore Peltz and wife of Our Lady of Sorrows parish. Kansas City, Mo., attended high mass at St. Mary's church here. Mr. and Mrs. Peltz will visit Denver, and leave there on Thursday Thurs-day for Oregon City, Ore., where they cxpect to locate. Messrs. James Ginnott, M. A. Hand and John McCort of Pueblo, spent Sunday here. They attended the children's chil-dren's mass, after which they visited the Garden of the Gods and Manitou. N. W. Haas of the Haas Heating & Plumbing company has been called to Michigan by the death of his brother, Anthony. J. J. Murphy, clerk in the county assessor's as-sessor's office, Is taking six schedules of Colorado City property. |
