Show SISTER MARY GERALDINE. Death of This Beloved Nun. at Holy Cross Hospital. ' Sister Mary Geraldine of the Sisters of the Holy Cross died at noon- on Thursday at the Holy. Cross hospital, from pneumonia, after an illness of only three days. Sister Geraldine, whose name in the world was Ellen O'Reilley. was born in La Salle. 111., and was 47 years oil. She received her education in Chicago from the Madames of the Sacred Heart. She entered the Novitiate of the Holy Cross order in Notre Dame, Ind at th? age of 17. r Sister Geraldine spent ten years at St. Mary's academy in this city, and about eleven years ago returned to Notre No-tre Dame. From there the nun wa3 sent to Texas, where she iaught in the principal academies of the Holy Cross order. Last August Sister Geraldine returned to Salt Lake and was assigned to the I .Kearns fet. Ann s orpnanage. H?r nearest near-est relative is Rev. Father ' Campbell, ore of the best-known priests of Chicago. Chi-cago. , - ' The announcement of the death of Sister Geraldine will cause intense grief in the hearts of all who knew her. .Gifted with rare teaching ability and equipped with a superior education, no subject got beyond her intellectual grasp. When her pure soul took its flight heavenward, a deeply true religious, relig-ious, a gentle, lovely refined woman, a sweet noble spirit, returned to God. This beloved nun gave her life to thr service of her Master in the morning o her beautiful girlhood, and after thirty years of tireless, zealous labor, she has entered into the tranquil sleep of Death. The hearts of those who"loved her are sorrowing, and their eyes are dim; but the sweet, holy poul hearkened to the call of Christ. "Bk-ssed are those Hi caiieii." . . Death leaves dear memories of her beautiful life loving thoughts that will ever linger in the minds and hearts oi those whose lives were influenced by Her example. With dim eyes will the "old girls" of St. Mary's academy read of the dealli of a well-loved teacher. Hundreds or former pupils throughout the .west, ovt their success to the careful, conscientious conscien-tious instruction of Sister Geraldina. Sincere sympathy is extended to her brother. Father Campbell, and to ine Sisters of the Holy Cross in the los they have sustained. May her rest be sweet!
