Notre Dame, Ind.. mourns the loss and pays affectionate tribute to the memory of Anna FUzglbbon, a student of the institution who perished in the Iroquois theatre fire. Chicago. -"The earliest intelligence in-telligence of the fire' received at St. Mary's." Bays the Chimes, "was a brief statement and a message of inquiry which blanched faces, and tightened heart-strings: 'Who ' on ' rollcall answered an-swered to rumbr eighty-one?' A St. Mary's pin . had directed the officials where tcseek information, and it was with sad forebodings that the answer was' sent: 'Anna Fitzgibbon.' with the address of her mother,' Mrs. Anna Cun-nea-Fitzgibbon, -'TO. From the first moment, mo-ment, on through the anxious hours that followed.'-St. .Mary's waited, yet dreaded, to hear what seemed inevita- j ble .namely, the loss of many of the students. But'while several were in the J ill-fated theatre on.Dec. 30, all escaped except Anna, who. with her brother, a student at Notre Dame, met a tragic death.. It is a sad consolation to know that she died in the arms of one of the rescuing priests, who came to the succor suc-cor of the victims." 1 Affectionate mention is also made in the Chimes of the passing away at Chicago Chi-cago of Mrs. Margaret Buchanan Sullivan, Sul-livan, the gifted writer. Mrs. Sullivan was a warm friend of Mother M. Angela's An-gela's in the formative days of the community", com-munity", and St. Mary's and the Sisters of . the Holy Cross Vee among her dearest interests. In grateful memory of a friend, andjn warm appreciation of a strong, nobte woman, do we bespeak be-speak the prayers. of St. Mary's students stu-dents for. the repose of the soul of Mrs. Alexander Sullivan.
