The funeral of Miss Katherine Shaffer, Shaf-fer, who died of pneumonia Friday, Dec. 15. at her home in Marysville, took place Monday afternoon, Dec. IS, from the cathedral of the Sacred Hearts, where Rev. Father Victor Day conduct--ed an impressive service at 1:30 o'clock. The body of Miss Shaffer was brought to Helena on a special train, which arrived ar-rived at the Northern Pacific depot at 10:40 a. m., and was accompanied by about 100 friends, who, with others from Helena, attended the service. Tho interment took place in . the Catholic cemetery, a large number of friends following the body to the grave. The pail-bearers, -all of whom live in Marysville, were: John Brunskill, H. II. Potting, jr., Eli Masort, Patrick Sullivan, Sulli-van, Charles Carlson and Henry Shoen-born. Shoen-born. Miss Shaffer was the daughter of Mrs. Katherine Shaffer, an old time resident of Marysville. Her father, Peter Shaffer, Shaf-fer, died four years ago. Miss Shaffer was 22 years old. She was chief of honor hon-or of Silver Spray lodge No. 9 of the Degree of Honor, and many of the members of that lodge attended the services at the cathedral yesterday. Miss Shaffer was prominently identified with .the social life of Marysville, and was held in great esteem by all whq knew her. |
