Mrs. Finlen will spend the next few months at Phoenix, Ariz. - The many friends of Mr. Frank J. Kagenbarth will be pleased to hear that he is convalescing from his recent illness. .. Dr. and Mrs. Pinkerton, Colonel and Mrs. Clayton and Mr. and Mrs. Remington Rem-ington made up a stall party at the Theatre New Year's night. Mrs. Henry C. Wallace delightfully entertained on Thu:sday afternoon of last week for her son and daughter, Clay and Hermca Wallace. j Tuesday evening of last week a number of the friends of Monte Elliott surprised him pleasantly at his home, the occasion being his thirteenth birth day. The hours were passed in games until midnight, when the youn people celebrated the Incoming year in a right royal way. Present were the Misses Jeannie Clayton. Miss Kate McKensie returned last week from Montana. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hopkins returned last Monday to their home at Cumberland, Cumber-land, Wyo., after a pleasant visit with friends here. George McErlane spent a few days in Eureka last week. Mrs. Monahan and children returned last week from Eureka. Martha O'Connor is seriously ill with a severe attack of scarlet fever. Mrs. Daniel Hickey of St. Paul is in the -city visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Hickey. . $ W. P. P. St. Clair, formerly of this city, has been appointed general manager man-ager of the Salem railroad, with headquarters head-quarters at Salem, O. Mr. and Mrs. James Ivers have returned re-turned from a visit to New York. John McChrystarof Eureka came in last Monday to attend the funeral of his cousin, H. J. Coyle. The many friends of J. C. Lvnch sympathize with him over the death of his father. Mr. Lynch has gone east to attend the funeral. Miss Stella Salisbury returns this week from a pleasant visit to Denver. Kathleen Homer, the charming little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Home- has been seriously 111 for the past month, but she is now almost well. Miss Mary Boyle, a char-ming young lady of Cumberland. Wyo., is in the city to spend the winter studying music. mu-sic. Miss Boyle was accompanied to the city by her brother. Charles Boyle, who returned to his home last Friday. Miss Margaret Harley and Miss Chrystal Kay entertained last week in honor of Mrs. G. F. Taylor. Among, the various games of interest wot the donkey party, the first prize being awarded to Mr. Irving Merchants and the consolation to Mrs. Bancroft. This was followed by piano and vocal selections selec-tions by the Misses Harley, Kay and Mr. Bowman Johnson. The guests of the evening were Mrs. G. F. Taylor, A. Rumel. Estella Bancroft, Tina Elliott. El-liott. Nellie Maclean. Mary Chapman. Madge Elliott, Margaret Harley, Ollle Taylor and Chrystal B. Kay; the Messrs. Dr. J. F. Ritchie, Irving Merchants, Mer-chants, Henry Williams, Charles Wing, Bowman Johnson, Sam Ashby, Ed Harley, Har-ley, jr., William Elliott and Harry Davis. Da-vis. Supper was served at the break of the New Year, after which dancing was continued until early morning. The evening was pronounced by all who participated a most enjoyable one. The Misses Cannon of Pocatello are visiting friends in the city. s Frank Burke, the well-known stockman, stock-man, has returned from the Burke ranch at Idaho, and will visit his parents par-ents for a few weeks. Mr, and Mrs. A. Ci Allen and little daughter are at home from an extended extend-ed trip to the Orient. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Wood leave next Sunday for a month's trip to California. Califor-nia. Wood during the latter's absence in California. W. F. Laughlin of the Associated Press office here has returned from Columbus, Co-lumbus, O.. where he spent his holiday vacation with relatives. Mark McChrystal returned last Monday Mon-day from California. W. M. Wooten of Denver is the guest of W. F. Flanagan. Miss Mabel Maynard will soon leave for a visit to Denver, where she has relatives. Fred McGurrln returned last Monday Mon-day from a trip to southern Utah, where he investigated important mining min-ing interests. Max Alexander left for the east last week to remain indefinitely. He has acccepted a position of traveling salesman sales-man for a large shoe firm in Boston. 1 John F. Farley of Denver paid a visit to the Intermountain fathniir. lcf Tuesday. Mr. Farley is the general agent of the Thiel Detective Service I company, and has seen service all over this western country. He is a practical prac-tical Catholic. and a member of the Knights of Columbus. -?- Mrs. O. D. Brown gave a delightful children's tree party the day before New Year's. Refreshments consisted of nuts, candies, pop corn, etc., which were served from the tree.
