About I twenty knights from Denver, twenty j I fiom Colorado Springs, twenty from I'm bio and eight from Leadville as- I sembled at Cripple Creek, where they ; instituted a new counoil with eighty c harter members. Fully 225 sir knights I pat down at the banquet held at the I ! National hotel. It lasted from 9:30 un- I til midnight. Addresses were made by j i Juage McFeeley, J.. O. Sawkins, V. F. ! I livan, Thomas F. Dunn and Dr. P. H. i Heller. 4 Grand Knight Redding of council ZZO j conferred the degrees, assisted by ; John Harnan, grand knight of council ;y2; Joseph Newman of 539 and J. W. With Father Brady of Loretto Heights he was ini- tiat-d into the Knights of Columbus ' on New Year's night. . : It is rumored that our right rever- end bishop will be present at the new f initiation ceremonies of the Knights of J Columbus. j St. Anthony of Padua's court Of For resters held a meeting, at which the j new officers were installed .in St. Leo's j hall on Thursday evening. After the I business of the meeting had been trans- acted a very pleasant evening was ( pent in card playing and dancing. 1 St. Elizabeth's branch of the L. C. B. A. held its annual installation of officers last Monday evening. The pupils of St. Mary's academy re-i re-i sumed their studies last Monday morn- t ing, after a two weeks' vacation. ? , j Rev. Thomas H. Malone is expected ! to return to his heme in Denver on Friday, Jan. 10. On Tuesday evening, Dec. 31, Mr. and I Mrs. Thomas Mullen of 126 West EUs- S worth street celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Almost 200 friends called. Sister- de Chantel, formerly Miss Nora Glcaso'n of this city, and Sister Mary Bertman left for Leavenworth, Kan., last Thursday evening, after a j pleasant vacation of two weeks in Den- j VC1- ' ' Next Tuesday evening. Jan. 14, is the i date set for the banquet to be given in p honor of the return of our right rev erend bishop. An unusually large and enthusiastic meeting was held in the basement of St. Leo's church last Wednesday evening even-ing to perfect arrangements for the :air for the neneht of St. Leo s, which win open in Coliseum hall on the even-ins; even-ins; of Feb. 1. So far everything is indicative of a tremendous success. Many beautiful donations have been received. The fair will in all probability proba-bility be one of the largest ever held in Denver. Miss Mary E. McGrath and Mr. J. Edward Grady were married in St. Dominic's church last Wednesday even-' even-' ing. Rev. Father McAllister performed t the ceremony. The bride was attended j by 'her two sisters. "Misses Kate and, Rose McGrath. Mr. Thomas McGrath was best man. After Feb. 1 Mr. -and I Mrs. McGrath will reside at SG0 South . Water street. -4- The annual ball given by the Ladies' Aid society at Kassler hall on New-Year's New-Year's evening was a grand success. Fully 500 couples ,were present. The ha!! was beautifully decorated. Many beautiful gowns were to be seen. Governor and Mrs. Orman lead the grand march at 9 o'clock. The success I of the affair was in a great measure I due to the zeal of Mrs. J. P. Donley, j president of the aid society.
