Show j ELY, NEV. I i (Special Correspondence.) ! The influx of strangers to Ely is on the increase. Each day brings either the capitalist, the commercial traveler, the mechanic or miner. Mechanics are unable to meet the great demand for new buildings. Carpenters especially are scarce. Turner,- who is largely interested in Ely, was summoned sum-moned by wire to Philadelphia on Monday to the sick bed of his son. Mrs. J. R. Marks, late of Nome, has just moved Into her new home. Mrs. Eager has taken a deep interest in all matters connected with the new church. Father Kiely, who came to Ely on lailroad day, returned to the city on Tuesday. Mr. Badertsher, who represents repre-sents The Herald, came to Ely on Saturday Sat-urday last and is hustling in the interest inter-est of The Herald. John Biggane assistant cashier of White Pine County bank, is jubilant on the change to his new quarters. The bank will occupy the principle office in the new Ricard building. George F. Deckelman, the popular engineer on -he passenger train to Ely, got a n?w mass for the choir of which he is a member. ) Miss F. Smithroth, who has charge of the Ely bakery, is one of the most active co-operators with Mrs. Miles in getting up a good choir. ,, Miss Ellen Hayes, who is the busiest person in Ely. devotes her leisure time in looking after the completion of the church and its interior decorations. The new iron fence, which she ordered two months ago, will soon be set in its place. |
