Miss N'olan and Miss Agnes Nolan left last week for a visit to St. Louis. Miss Goldthwaite will return next month from an extended visit to Leavenworth Leav-enworth and St. Louis. Miss Bruneaux of Tooele has returned to her home after a pleasant visit with her brother, Amon Bruneaux of this city. r- Mrs. J. W. Dunn has returned from Portland, where she. visited Mrs. E. E. Calvin. Miss Mary Jenkinson, Miss Dunn and Margaret uunn are mmuhs iik Misses Calvin for a few weeks, and Mrs. I J. Quealy of Kem-merer, Kem-merer, Wyo., are spending a tew days in the city. Mr?. Elizabeth Coray and son, Donald, Don-ald, have returned from a trip to Portland. Port-land. f Miss Mabel Krauss returned to Ogden on Wednesday, after a delightful visit tvith the family of J. D. Sullivan of this city. - -f Mrs. Enos Hoge has returned from Ogden, where she visited Mrs. Joseph Peery. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. S. Bird are the happy parent? of a lovely little daughter, daugh-ter, who was born last week. f Miss Margaret Dooly, daughter of J. E. Dooly, is ill with typhoid fever. Mrs. E. M. Angeles. 4 J. E. Cosgriff entertained a large party cf friends at the lake Saturday evening. The party went out on the T. o'clock train, enjoyed- a sumptuous feast and spent the evening hours in dancing. - Dr. and Mrs. F. E. Straup of Bingham Bing-ham arc guests in Salt Lake, having ocr.e down from the mining camp on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. John J. Daly and daughters. Misses Eveline and Eudora, will leave about Sept. 6 for a visit to the 'World's fair and Chicago, after which they will go to Washington, where the young ladies will enter the National Park seminary. Mr. and Mrs. Daly expect to be absent about six weeks. James R. The marriage will be one of the early September events. f The Messrs. Salisbury and their guests, the Messrs. Pitzman of St. Louis and Newman of New York, returned re-turned from their Idaho hunting trip early this week. -- Dr. and Mrs. W. D. Donoher are now enjoying a visit in Belfast. They "will next tour Scotland, then to the continent, conti-nent, as far as Vienna, where they will make an indefinite stay. 4 Postmaster A. L. .Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Park, Mr. and Mrs. Elbridgc Thomas, Miss Thomas, Mrs. James Adams Ad-ams and the Misses Annie and Kate Adams, will spend Sunday cruising about the lake in a sailing vessel. In connection with an excellent portrait por-trait of Mrs. Marjorie Sidley Larkin, published in the Butte News of Saturday, Satur-day, that newspaper says: "Mrs. Marjorie Mar-jorie Sidley Larkin and Miss Mamie Stephens of Salt Lake City, who wen; the guests of Mrs. John Scovil of 637 Colorado street, were given a continuous continu-ous round of entertainment during their visit. They departed for their home this afternoon, declaring they had a delightful delight-ful sojourn in the city. Last Tuesday a horseback riding party was given by Mrs. Scovil, and Wednesday , evening they were guests of honor at a dancing party and supper given by Mrs. Scovil. Sco-vil. The guests were Ernest Smith, Lee Walton, Miss Stephens. Mrs. Larkin Lar-kin and Mr. and Mrs. Scovil. The dance was at the Columbia Gardens ! pavilion, the occasion the Business col- ! lege annual ball. The supper was at1 the Thornton hotel. Mrs. Edward McGurrin entertained , last week at. the Count rv elnh in linnnr 1 of Mifs Gertrude Hanson and Miss Georgia Yadner. Robert Burns of Focatelio, but formerly for-merly of this city, has returned to Salt Lake, where he will have charge of the construction work on the new Oregon Short Line depot. f- Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Buckley and Timothy, jr., have returned to Salt Lake from Boise, where they have resided re-sided for the past three years. Miss Katherine Buckley will remain in Boise for the present. Mrs. Maurice Schiebel returned to her home in Boston last Saturday. Her friends and those of her daughters, Mrs. P. J. McKcnna and Miss Rose Schiebel, will wish her a safe jouyney, a pleasant visit and speedy return. f-- Miss Goodyear, a charming young lady of Kansas City, has been the guest of Miss Kellar for the pr.st two week ' 4 Mrs. Martha Royle King entertained a party of friends at the Walker farm on Wednesday in honor of Leroy Palmer, Pal-mer, who is visiting in the city. f J. T. Goodwin entertained a number of friends at dinner on Wednesday evening. f- Mrs. William Murphy entertained a number of her friends at a Kensington last Friday. One of the features of the afternoon was some choice music rendered ren-dered by Miss "Mae Kane, which the i guests enjoyed very much. The house was beautifully decorated wiMi ferns and cut flowers. The table decorations consisted of pink roses, white geraniums gerani-ums and- ferns. f The expansive lawn surrounding th-5 home of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. lleringpr. of 442 North Third West street, was the scene of much gaiety on Tuesday evening, even-ing, when the Misses Eleanor and Pau-l'i;e Pau-l'i;e Heringer entertained about fifty ol their young friends. The evening's fun was started with a "peanut hunt." into which the young people entered with great spirit. The prize w;s won j iy Mabel Stepnens, who succeeded in linding about 1W) peanuts. Other games j were played, for which prizes were p warded. Delicious refreshments were served at 11 o'clock, and the young people departed on the last car for their respective homes with great praise on j their lips for the charming hostesses. Mrs. Margaret McMahon of Lead-ille, Lead-ille, Colo., arrived in the city yesterday yester-day and will spend the winter here with her daughters, Mrs. Charles McDonald, Mc-Donald, Margaret and Genevieve McMahon. Mc-Mahon. Miss Katherine Murphy entertained a number of her friends at a picnic at Liberty park on Monday. A watermelon water-melon contest was one of the features of the afternoon. The prizes were won by Miss Mabel Stephens and Misrf Blanche Henderson. Those present were: Misses Blanche Henderson. Florence Flor-ence Halloran, Gertrude Geoghegau. Mabel and Julia Stephens.
