Show CHEYENNE, WY0. The Convent of the Holy Child. (Special Correspondence.) On St. Patrick's day the children s choir sang appropriate hymns during the mass in the cathedral. A ha lf holiday holi-day was granted by request to the convent con-vent school children, 2nd the r.ews of It was hailed with delight' by all. In the evening the senior gir's gave an entertainment to the sisters anr. pupils in the school hall. It was a comedy entitled en-titled "Doctor Gertrude Wheeler. ' and it was thoroughly enjoyel by the appreciative ap-preciative audience. Miss Gertrude Geddes took the principal prin-cipal part and much creuit is due to her for the perfect rendition' of it. "Delia, the Maid," was weil'acted by Miss Marie Coyne, wno won great applause ap-plause by the humorous dialogues carried car-ried on with the many visitors who came to the doctor's office. The other characters were: Miss Cornelia Van Rodonhaugh, an old lady who is grieved about her overfed lap dog.. Miss Neliis Kinney Mrs. Seymour Spencer, a sviely. woman who mistakes Xhi doctor's doc-tor's office for a "loan office," where she wants co raise money on a diamnod pin. Miss Ma?;el Moran Two friends of Doctor Wheeler ... Miss Mary Cross, Miss Ruby Loo Minnie, a housemaid ; Miss Frances .McFarland Pretty shamrock programs were distributed. dis-tributed. The Hon. T. A. Cosriff. of Cheyenne, Chey-enne, has again sh iwi his groat interest in-terest in the convent school anil the happiness of the pupils by sending a bounteous treat of l?e cream and ca'e to them, and which was an addional pleasure for them on St. Patrick's day. The beautiful operetta "Snow "Vhite" is to be given by the convent school children on Tuesday evening, April 28, in the Capitol avenue theHlr;. It is for the benefit of the new cathedral now under erection. The making of the costumes and rehearsing the nans are at present occupying much of ihe time, outside of class hours, of all concerned. con-cerned. It is a laborious work and a'l hope it will prove a success and be worth the trouble spent upon it. There are at least ninety children taking tak-ing part in it; their earnestness and good will go far toward making the undertaking a plcasanL one. Mr. Han-eschka Han-eschka has generously given the service serv-ice of his orchestra to accompany the singing, for which he is gratefullv thanked. |
