' tfllliEW liBIMU Tew citizens of Bingham have such & splendid record to refer to as C. L. Countryman, who came to camp sev-eral years ago as principal of '' the Bingham schools, and wh has stead ily grown into the social and business activities of this community since that time. Mr. Countryman's popular--' ity is attested by the strong endorse-v,:.-- , merit he has received eacn time hg ha gone before the public for elec-tion to the ,'pfflce of school trustee, He has also taken an active part In very civic enterprise for the upbuild; ing of the camp and has taken a lead- - in part In every political fight which lias come up. He identified himself with the Democratic party shortly af-ter he arrived here and has been a consistent worker with that party lnce. He has been a lifelong Demo-crat ani was a prominent party worker before coming to Bingham. He has been precinct chairman iof Bingham for a cumber of years and lias done much to help carry the camp for the Democrats. During the years . i . . . , ; ' ' " ' si C. L. COUNTRYMAN. . when to be a Democrat was almost a crime, Mr. Countryman stood firm and upheld the standards of his" party in this mining camp. Mr. Countryman's work as Bing-ham's representative on the Jordan board of education is worthy of spe-cial mention. He has always worked for the Interests of the schools of the camp and has secured excellent teach-ers and equipment for Bingham. OUR EXCELLENT POLICE FORCE ' Second to. none, Bingham today has the best police department in the state of Utah. Under the captaincy of 3.' S. Jones they have made a record Justly to be proud of,' During the past ear many arrests of state-wid- e im wrtance have been made and the iamp has been kept rid of the usual imovnt of beggars and thugs who usually infest a camp of this kind. For bravery they are unexcelled, as have been shown on many occasions. The arrest of principal and accomplices in the recent held-u- p of the Bingham State bank are certainly a great credit to Chief Jones and his men. With a force of this kind ' always courteous and attentive to autiea, the good citi-zens of our camp may rest assured' that their interests along this line will be wen taken care of. Besides Chief S, S. Jones the members of the police force are Phil Culleton, Riley Patton, Andy Mayer and J. H. White. , Our Deputy Sheriffs, With the coming of the new year the camp will in all probability lose three of its best officers, William Struthers, Al Pautch and George Phillips, deputy sheriffs, who have been stationed here the past year. With ' Chief Deputy Struthers in Bingham proper and the other twp gentlement in Highland Boy, the camp has been In better condition than ever before. Better order has been maintained, less crimes have been committed, and the lawless element have been taught to respect the law, Our incoming sheriff may appoint men just as good but cannot find any better than these three gentlemen. .
