Show City And County Schools Set For Opening Tuesday, Sept. 3 I940 School Calendar For Preston System Announced By Campbell INSTITUTE TO BE HELD MONDAY Complete Faculty Roster Assignments For All City Schools Given Hundreds of students from throughout Preston city and Franklin county will begin the trek back to school this week along with thousands of other students in Utah and Idaho. Tuesday, September 3, will be the opening day for the city schools and for most of the other county schools. A few schools in the county however how-ever will start their school Mon day, September 2, and will hold class until noon. School notices from Wetland F. Smith, county superintendent; Horland Simmons, high school principal; Walter Basinger, Weston Wes-ton high school principal; and D L. M'eClun, Central school principal; princi-pal; appear elsewhere in this paper pa-per while E. R. Spilslury, principal princi-pal of the Junior high school, had a notice to prospective students in last week's issue. Superintendent R. F. Campbell of the Preston public schools announced an-nounced this week the 1940-1941 school calendar as adopted at tha last meeting of the Preston Board -of Education and the comple'o faculty roster and their assignments assign-ments for the coming year. The calendar, is as follows; Teachers' institute, September 2; school opens September 3; harvest vacation (tentative), October Oc-tober 12 to 25, inclusive; Thanksgiving Thanks-giving vacation, November 2S and 29; Christmas vacation, Junior and Senior high schools, December Decem-ber 21 to 29; New Year's holiday, January 1. 1941, only, school to be held on Saturday, January 4; first six grades, December 21 to January Janu-ary 6; school closes May 23, 1941.
