Show FISH AND GAME BEAVER CREWS TO WORK ON STREAMS BOISE (Special) The Idaho Fish & Game department's annual live beaver trapping and transplanting trans-planting program began this week in sections of the state where the beavers have been reported damaging dam-aging irrigation ditches, canals and streams, James O. Beck, director of "the department, announced. The program, operating as a Pitt-man-Robertson Federal Aid to the wildlife project, is under uie direction di-rection of John J. Boyle, supervisor super-visor of Federal Aid for the state. "It is the aim of the department to live-trap and transplant approx-imatey approx-imatey 500 beavers during the three month period the project will be in operation," tioyle said. "This year's program will be operated op-erated the same as in the past with beavers being taken on complaints com-plaints only from farmers and property owners in the lower farming farm-ing districts and transplanted in higher regions of the same watershed water-shed or stream." Conservation officers will assist l-ijwiransplanting the beavers. The number of complaints received re-ceived so far are considerably less than those received for the same iperiod a year ago. |
