Show Independence Day to Be Observed Here With Patriotic Program DICK WELLS TO SPEAK ON PROGRAM Fireworks, Parade, And Sports Are Scheduled Here Preston's observance of Independence In-dependence day will feature a patriotic program on the evening of July 3 at the high school auditorium, a display of fireworks, a parade on the morning of the Fourth, and a sports program, according to final plans completed by a civic civ-ic committee in charge. Speaker of the evening on Thursday Thurs-day at 8:15 p. m. will be R. II. 'Dick" Wells of Pocatello, prominent prom-inent business man and church leader. He is a past district governor gov-ernor and director of Rotary International In-ternational and has attained fame as a speaker in. the United States and in other nations through which he has traveled. Musical numbers, congregational singing and the posting and retiring re-tiring of, colors are other features of the program. The fireworks display will be held at. 9:30 at the high school stadium, immediately following the program. On Independence Dny there will be a sunrise salute, and at 9 a. m. a parade will be held starting at the Central school. Anyone ic eligible to participate partici-pate in the parade but escn is asked to portray something pertaining to Independence Day... Children must be in the parade to receive tickets for free confections. Prizes will be given in each section which will include tricycles, bicycles, baby buggies, wagons, ponies, and other vehicles and ammis. ! The parade will form at 8:45 at the Central school. Features of the sports program to be held! in the high school stadium sta-dium immediately after the parade will include events for all ager. from 10 to 60 years. There will be dashes for all ages, three legged leg-ged races for boys and girls, srck races, crab walk races, wheelbarrow wheelbar-row events, bicycle races, n twg-o-war between the north and south sides of town, a soccer game re-tween re-tween the north and south, at.d softball games between mairied and single men and married women wom-en vs. single; women. Equipment will also be available for horseshoes, croquet, volleyball, badminton and other games. Various committees in charge include Dr. Orvid Cutler, 1 aul Boeticher, W. H. Simmons, Carl Cutler E.
