Scott Carter, son of Mrs. Sadie Carter of Preston, who is enjoy-ng enjoy-ng a ten day leave from the Navy was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Carter. Others present were Clyde Carter of Preston and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shhuldberg. Mr. and Mrs. Max Lewis were honored at a dance and shower here Saturday evening. Mrs. Lewis was formerly Miss Syble Wei is. They were married Friday, May 23 in the Logan LDS temple. Orville Talbot returned nome on Wednesday after a very pleasant week of visiting rivers and streams in Idaho with the Fish and Game association. While in Boise he had the honor of meeting Governor Chase Clark. Dr. S. E. Nelson of Preston spent a day in our ward on business last week. Miss Donna Talbot is leaving for Montana Wednesday to join the Glendora players. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Holmes and daughter, Marian, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James C. Taylor and family. Calvin Johnson, son of Orene Johnson was ordained a deacon Sunday in sacrament meeting. W. O. Winger and son, Jay, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Alice Talbot motored to Ogden Sunday where Mr. Winger ordained his son, Wendell an elder in the Ogden Fifth ward. Mrs. Talbot spent the day visiting with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Winger. Primary 'conference was held here Sunday. A very fine program was presented by the children of primary age. Mrs. Barber and daughter, Vesta, Ves-ta, mother and sister of Mrs. Leo Winn, left Sunday to visit with other relatives and friends. Graduation exercises were held here Monday evening for the eighth grade. This year's graduates gradu-ates were MarJean Carter, Norma Sullivan, Eugene Talbot, Herman Sharp, Goldie Talbot and Kenneth Hollingsworth. A splendid program pro-gram was presented followed by a dance. Earlier in the evening, Le-Roy Le-Roy Archibald, principal of the school, took the graduates lo Preston Pres-ton where they had their pictures taken. Seven from our ward; were graduated grad-uated from Preston senior high school Tuesday, May 19. They were Dorothy Mae Talbot, Erma-dean Erma-dean Taylor, Inez Taylor, Gretta Winger LaVor Smith, Steven Mor-tenson Mor-tenson and Theodore Johnson. Awards for individuals who were outstanding in various fields of activity ac-tivity in the Preston senior high school were: Roy Talbot received a silver pin for boxing; Inez Taylor received a silver pin for G.A.A.; Steven Mortensen and LaVor Smith received a silver pin for FFA work. |
