Show Local FFAers Place High In Ogden Show Ariel Meek Awarded American Farmer Degree At Kansas Meet The Preston F.F.A. livestock judging team composed of Steven Mortensen, LaVor Smith, Darrell Drury, Ralph Jones, and LeRoy Perry lost first place laurels at the Ogden stock show by a mere .2 of 1 point. Filer's team garnered first place laurels with a total team score of 2266.7 while the Preston boys (winners last year i won a very close second with 2266.5 points. Steven Mortensen was third high point man of the contest. Twenty-seven Idaho teams competed. Thirty-eight chapter members saw many prize winning animals and livestock exhibits at the show Saturday. Instructor Dowe Bying-ton Bying-ton reports a very profitable day for the boys. Charles Choules showing three registered Duroc Jersey pigs received re-ceived three A ratings and sold a yearling registered boar for ?40. Don Carter also represented the local chapter with three registered yearling Hereford bulls which ne has had on feed for nearly one year. Don's top bull brought ?4(0 at the show auction last February. Word has been received here from the F.F.A. National convention conven-tion now in session at Kansas City that Aerial Meek has been awarded award-ed his American Farmers degree. This is the highest award given sd F.F.A. member only two being awarded from Idaho each year. Paul Harvey, teacher trainee from the University of Idaho, at Mo-row, is gluing soi.'e aluatle training this week while taking over Mr. Craner's vocational agricultural agri-cultural classes. |
