Show REPUBLICAN PARTY iN TIHE STAITE ia THE OF UTAH. VOLUME IV, NUMBER 49. SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30, 1906. Weather SALT LAKE MEN RISE IN PROTEST DON'T BELIEVE THE TRIBUNE AGAINST DEFAMATION OF UTAH ‘ Spirit of Commercial Club Banquet and Expenditure for Advertising the State as It Really Is. Do not be at all disturbed by the Tribune's article pretended to be telegraphed from New York and printed on the front page of that paper Saturday morning, intending to injure The Republican. ; The only changes that will be made in this establishment will be the purchase of a faster press and some minor additions to an already very efficient plant. Of course the purpose of the Tribune was to injure The Republican with advertisers; to dissuade them from making contracts here at the beginning of the year --when contracts usually are renewed. It is quite characteristic of the Tribune's methods. But there is no truth at all in their published story. This paper is here as a permanency. We have had a much better year than any one connected with The Republican could have hoped at the beginning. The welcome the people have extended has been cordial and ample. We believe we have deserved succcess, and we certainly have achieved it. There will be no changes of any sort, except an increased equipment. We are here to stay, and one of two things is sure: Either we will attend the funeral of the Tribune or we will live to see that paper totally abandon its present : Indorse & % PLEA FOR HARMONY; LAY ASIDE THE HAMMER yw i i v4 > Want a> Xa. i i the baby to Tell the World That Tribune's Estimate Is Wrong, Unfounded and Unjust-Agency's Hurtful Work to HEHEHE HH eee ee eee Touch eeeeereteeeeeeese with wh 7 c 1 + the t tended Pay opportunity . nds ny tilit « nd ind ; = ca ee wtKe 1 ‘ ‘ pike f ‘ + , 3|9 | nt le Its DOUNIESS -PESOUP COS, LO monwealth the natural abundance 1 it will enrich those who if isp ake to.
