Show IDAHO POTATOES DEMAND HIGH DURING WEEK BOISE. Jan. 23 Idaho potatoes moved to market faster this week with increased demand, due to the nation-wide Idaho potato and Cn. ion Week promotion. The "week" closes Saturday. This increased demand and the widening of Idaho potato distribution distribu-tion was made known to the Idaho Advertising Commission from market mar-ket service reports and unprecedented unprece-dented requests for Idaho store dis. play material. U. S. Department of Agriculture figures are expected to show a comparative increase tor the period pe-riod in unloads of Idaho potatoes, featured all this week by grocery stores throughout the east, mid west and south. The Tabbj Potato Service in Chicago Chi-cago reported "the increased Idaho demand is probably due to some extent to the trade stnkir. up a little heavier than usual for Idaho Potato Week." Commissioner Secretary L. E. Sargent reported he had received requests for display material fr.om as far east as Woonsocket, R. I., where a! store wrote "for the first time, last week, we sold 500 pounds of Idaho potatoes without even pushing them. Hope, to sell 5000 pounds next week." 'Chat letter just goes to show," said Sargent, "the extent to which this special promotion is widening distribution of Idaho potatoes. The Woonsocket store is deep in a competitive com-petitive potato marketing area." A full report of the potato and onion week promition was made by its advertising agencies last week at the Idaho Advertising commission, com-mission, which met in Boise to reorganize re-organize for the next two years. James B. Newport, new commissioner commis-sioner of agriculture, was named chairman of the commission, to succeed E. N. Pettygrove, outgoing agricultural commissioner. H. u.
