Show Dedication Program Wednesday For Monument Marking First Mail Route Wednesday, September 18, marks J the completion of the monument In Cub River canyon marking the Bite of the first mail route and telegraph communication between tils valley and Bear Lake. On that toy. the dedication program under the direction of the Franklin county coun-ty chapter of the Daughters of the Pioneers will be held commencing i t 10 :30 a.m. The trail, known as the Shoshone Mian trail, has been selected by the Daughters of the Pioneers for site of the monument. The monument is located on the main canyon road half way between the forks and the Willow Flats by the spring known as Thomas Springs. The central company of Salt Lake will be present at the dedication dedica-tion services Wednesday and it is urged that all local members of the Daughters of the Pioneers also be present. The general public is also extended a cordial invitation to attend. The program is as follows; Ladies quartet; prayer; Early History by Dan Taylor; vocal solo by Lyle Shipley; address, "The Value of the Pioneer" by T. R. Bowden; instrumental selections by Beverly Kilgore; address, "Idaho Monuments" by Thomas Heath; solo by Lyle Shipley; sketch on "Marking the Trail" by Elmer Mer-ril; Mer-ril; unveiling of the monument by-Maggie by-Maggie Merrill Smith; and dedication dedica-tion of monument by Daniel Thom. as. The regular encampment will take place at 2:30 p. m. at the courthouse September 18 and all camp members are requested to be present. |
